Quick Tip: Academic Engagement Verification (AEV) Roster & Canvas

The Academic Engagement Verification (Formerly called Academic Presence Verification Roster) operates differently in Canvas. Marking a student as NF or SF will NOT remove the student’s access to Canvas. This allows you to make some decisions about what you would like to occur before changing the access status.
- If you want the student to complete assignments in Canvas before changing the grade, simply watch the gradebook for those submissions.
- If you do not want the student to be able to access the course while they have the NF/SF mark, you can navigate to the People page and deactivate the student in the course. Any existing work will be preserved, and you can reactivate them if they rejoin the class. Please only use the deactivate option; do not remove students from your courses.
