To become eligible to be a Kent State Peer Leader, undergraduate students must enroll in and successfully complete the Training Course offered in the spring semester. Students must be at least a second-semester freshman at the start of the spring semester Training Course and have completed the UC 10097 Destination Kent State FYE Course. Students of any major are welcome. Students will select one section and register for UC 20201 through Flashline.

The successful completion of the Peer Leader Training Course does not guarantee a position. Applications, interviews, and the pairing process will occur during the semester.

Upon Successful Completion of the Peer Leader Training Course You Will:

  • Become eligible to apply for a variety of leadership positions.
  • Gain transferable skills that will elevate your academic and professional career goals.
  • Build community with your peers and have fun!

    Each year the office of Student Success Programs hires dynamic, personable and energetic orientation leaders to assist our new incoming students and parents through Destination Kent State: New Student Orientation. The Flashguide position is a paid position and will require student leaders to live on campus from May-July.

  • Exploratory Mentor

    Exploratory Mentor

    The Exploratory Mentor position is an integral position within the Exploratory Program in University College. Mentors are responsible for carrying out the mission of the program by helping first- year Exploratory students build community, explore majors and careers, develop leadership skills, and achieve academic and college success.

    The mentor position has a variety of responsibilities, including providing guidance, motivation, support, role modeling. The mentors meet with students one-on-one and in small groups hosting office hours in Lake Hall. The Mentors also develop and lead specific programming for the community.

Kent Student Ambassador

The Kent Student Ambassadors (KSA) were established by the Kent State Alumni Association in 1983 as a service organization. Today, this premier student group is supported by the Division of Philanthropy and Alumni Engagement and is comprised of Kent State's finest students.

Members actively participate in the community and on campus, inspiring pride in Kent State University. They also educate fellow Flashes on the importance of philanthropy and the role it plays in university operations and student support.

Tour Guide

Do you love Kent State? Are you looking for rewarding work where you get to share your love of Kent State and talk about your experience as a student? You may be an excellent candidate for our open Tour Guide position in the Admissions Office.

This job is multi-faceted and isn’t just about giving tours, you will be a part of a large team and assist the admissions office with large visit programs and virtual events. We offer daily campus tours Monday through Friday at 10 AM and 2 PM, tour large groups, and occasional Saturdays. Tour guides play a very active role in the recruitment efforts of the university and these interactions are often why students choose to come to Kent State. We are a fast-paced office and you will gain applicable skills for your future professional career! Work-study applicants are welcome.

Undergraduate Student Govt. Member (Elected and Appointed positions)

Since 1924, the Undergraduate Student Government has served as the representative organization of the undergraduate students of Kent State University in Kent, Ohio. In addition to advocating for the student body, USG provides vital services to the university community, as written in our services tab!

Twenty-six officials, each elected in the spring semester to serve a one-year term, consist of the make-up of USG. Overseen by the Student Body President, eight directors cover specific areas of student life, and sixteen senators represent the degree granting colleges, commuter and off-campus students, residence hall students, university college, and other important university demographics of students.
