A blaze burns the prairie grass that grows behind the Warren Student Recreation and Wellness Center during a controlled burning by the Kent Fire Department.

The protected prairie surrounding Kent State University’s Warren Student Recreation and Wellness Center will be burned on Wednesday, April 28, starting around 9 a.m. to allow for new growth during the summer season.

Kent State University has once again received recognition from Tree Campus USA, an Arbor Day Foundation program, for its commitment to effective urban forest management. This is now the 11th consecutive year that Kent State has been awarded this honor. The university will celebrate the designation along with its annual Arbor Day events on April 25.
