Kent State University's Black Theatre Association is celebrating Black History Month throughout February with two different projects, currently being shared through the organization's Instagram account (@BTAKentState).
The first project, "Black Excellence Spotlight," will feature profiles celebrating black excellence and accomplishments. Curated by first year theatre students Noah Brock and Kia Render, new installments of "Black Excellence Spotlight" will be posted every Monady and Friday.
The second project, "Taking the 'BUS' Through History," is an original docuseries chronicling the impact of Kent State's Black United Students organization on the creation and continued celebration of Black History Month. Written and filmed by theatre majors Alexis Wilson, Aylah Mendenhall, Collin Geter, and Ebone Jones, the docuseries features performances by additional School of Theatre and Dance students. New episodes will debut each Wednesday.
Both projects were managed by Black Theatre Association PR Representative Ebone Jones. Black Theatre Association is led by president Jaye Jackson.
