Honor Dr. John Crawford-Spinelli’s Legacy with a Scholarship Gift
Dean John Crawford-Spinelli retires June 30 having dedicated more than 33 years to Kent State’s College of the Arts as a professor, school director and dean. From his beginnings as a dancer, actor and choreographer, he has spent his career as an artist and educator, training the next generation of arts professionals.
During his tenure Dr. Crawford-Spinelli advanced the college to become one of the nation’s top-ranked colleges of visual, performing and design arts. He helped shepherd the creation of the Roe Green Center for the School of Theatre and Dance and the building of the Center for the Visual Arts. He has choreographed more than 65 dance pieces along with numerous musical theatre productions in his time at Kent State and has been the recipient of several awards for his work. From 2014 to 2016, he served as president of the International Council of Fine Arts Deans.
In recognition of his service and passion, the College of the Arts Advisory Board, with your help, will establish the John Crawford-Spinelli Scholarship for Dance that will support underrepresented students. Our goal is to raise $25,000 to endow this scholarship by the start of the fall semester.
Please consider honoring John’s legacy with a gift to his scholarship fund. Gifts of any size are meaningful and will make a difference in the lives of our talented students.
