School of Theatre and Dance welcomes Assistant Professor of Scenic Design Gennie Neuman Lambert

The School of Theatre and Dance is excited to announce that Gennie Neuman Lambert will join Kent State this summer as assistant professor of scenic design.

"After many months and a national search, I am pleased to announce the appointment of Gennie Neuman Lambert as the Assistant Professor of Scenic Design beginning Fall of 2023." says School of Theatre and Dance Director Tony Hardin.

Gennie Neuman Lambert is joining us from Southern Illinois University, where she has served as an Assistant Professor and resident scenic designer since 2020. Professionally, she has designed scenery for challenging new plays, historical plays, and musical-driven pieces with companies like Berkshire Theater Group (MA), Crossroads Theater Company (NJ), Lyric Theater @ Illinois, and the Strawhat Players (MN). She is a storyteller and an environmentally driven creator, working on productions that bring communities together and challenging both the audiences and the creatives involved to consider others' experiences.

At the university level, she teaches students the tools to design evocative spaces and use their voices to create positive change. She has gained teaching experience and production opportunities from multiple institutions, including Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers University, Bucknell University, Lafayette College, City College of New York, and Southern Illinois University.
