Adding a Little Spring to Winter

Flash Activities Board’s winter terrarium event brings mid-winter joy to students

Students eagerly filed into the Kent Student Center on Jan. 23 for the winter terrarium event aimed to bring some greenery to students during the cold winter months. The event was held by the Flash Activities Board (FAB).

Students waiting in line

After waiting in a line that wrapped around Room 218 of the student center, students were greeted with a round, hanging terrarium to fill while they socialized with other Kent State University students. FAB provided various plants and decorations, including pinecones and polar bear figurines, for students to customize their creations.

Madalynn Wagner, a senior managerial marketing major and director of FAB Tuesdays, led the planning of this event and was eager to share this evening with students. FAB Tuesdays are focused on creating opportunities that provide a warm, welcoming environment for students to spend time with friends while working on crafts and DIY projects.

“I love helping plan these events,” Wagner said. “It’s so great to see everyone sitting with friends, getting a break from the stress of school.”

This event is part of FAB’s spring semester programming, filled with crafts, karaoke and more.

“Providing engaging events for students is our passion here at FAB,” Wagner said. “We have several events coming up, including grocery bingo and later on, the FAB formal, so definitely follow us on Instagram.”
