'Dear Ukraine' Exhibit Installed at the Washington National Cathedral

The "Dear Ukraine" global community poem, an interactive website created by Kent State University’s Wick Poetry Center, has encouraged people of all ages around the world to share their voices, inspired by a model poem written by Ukrainian-American poet Julia Kolchinsky Dasbach.

In a new partnership, the "Dear Ukraine" exhibit was recently installed on the walls of the Center for Prayer and Pilgrimage at the Washington National Cathedral in recognition of the one-year anniversary of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

This partnership with the Washington National Cathedral is the first of its kind for the Wick Poetry Center and Kent State. The installation offers visitors an opportunity to view poems from around the world on the chapel walls and to share their voice in response to the unfolding atrocities of the war against Ukraine and its people.

“The Wick Poetry Center is committed to advocacy through the arts,” said David Hassler, director of the Wick Poetry Center. “We are honored to offer this platform to facilitate a global conversation and to amplify the voices of those who stand with Ukraine and with displaced people all over the world.”
