Ramadan began at sundown on Feb. 28 and will end at sundown on March 29. This observance is marked in this Islamic observance as a period of spiritual reflection, devotion and community with fasting each day from dawn to sunset. The evening break of the fast is called “ifar.” The Kent State Muslim Students’ Association invited everyone to join them at their Ramadan Fastathon on March 24 in the Kent Student Center Ballroom for ifar, with delicious foods, henna tattoos and dhujr bead-making.

During the month of Ramadan, Kent State’s Muslim Students’ Association collected funds to create food boxes that will be donated to nearby mosques to assist families in need.
