IN A FLASH: A Student Symphony

Scott MacPherson, DMA, conductor and director of choral studies, led the Kent State University Orchestra in rehearsals this week for what he called a “huge” concert this Sunday, Dec. 11, at 3 p.m. with the Kent Chorus and Chorale.

Performing works for both full symphony orchestra and strings, the Kent State University Orchestra is open to students of any undergraduate and graduate major at Kent State.

The Hugh A. Glauser School of Music is part of Kent State University’s College of the Arts and traces its roots back more than 100 years with the first head of the music department, Anne Maud Shamel, and the first classes of special music students.
