IN A FLASH: "These Hands Will Deliver Compassion"

This is the "Blessing of the Hands" at the White Coat Ceremony for students in the Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing (ABSN) program in the College of Nursing on the Kent Campus. The White Coat Ceremony is symbolic of the students’ becoming healthcare professionals as they begin clinicals.  Kent State's ABSN program was developed for students who already hold a bachelor's degree and can lead to a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing in as few as 15 months.

The blessing Kent State uses is:

We take this moment to honor, protect, and enlighten the care and comfort these hands will provide to the sacred and the sick.

These hands will deliver compassion and respect for the people and families in your care.

You may never understand all the ways your hands can heal but your patients will. Being a nurse is a privilege and a gift to humanity.
