A fiery image, taken by photographer and Kent State University alumnus Jerry Jividen at the December Star of the West mill fire in downtown Kent, is featured on the cover of a national firefighter magazine.

The photo appears on the cover of the February issue of Firehouse magazine.
Kent Fire Chief Bill Myers said his department was honored when the photo Jividen took appeared on the cover of the “very popular, nationally recognized firefighting magazine.”
Jividen, who graduated from Kent State with a degree in earth science in 1969 and earned a master’s degree in secondary education in 1977, talks about taking that photo and others that day in an article in The Portager.
