Kent State Celebrates Newest Graduates With Fall Commencement

The Kent State University alumni family will grow by more than 2,500 new graduates from its eight-campus system across Ohio as the university holds its fall commencement ceremonies. The accomplishments of the Fall Class of 2024 will be recognized with commencements on Dec. 14. The ceremonies will be livestreamed at www.kent.edu/commencement.

In total, 2,552 degrees will be conferred this fall, consisting of 516 associate degrees, 1,352 bachelor’s degrees, 640 master’s degrees and 44 doctoral degrees. Among the fall graduates are six students – five from Notre Dame College and one from Eastern Gateway Community College – who transferred to Kent State and are graduating with a Kent State degree after one semester. Notre Dame College closed in May, and Eastern Gateway Community College closed in October. Kent State streamlined its transfer process and created a seamless pathway for these students to graduate.

More than 1,200 of the graduating students from the Kent Campus and the Regional Campuses have confirmed their participation in the commencement ceremonies.

During the commencement ceremonies, graduating students will hear from Kent State President Todd Diacon and Executive Vice President and Provost Melody Tankersley. Graduating students also will receive individual name recognition and participate in the conferral of degrees and tassel turning ceremony.

At the 2 p.m. ceremony, entrepreneurs and healthcare design influencers Fonda Elliot and alumnus John Elliot will each receive the Doctor of Humane Letters, honorary degrees recognizing their extraordinary contributions to the field of healthcare and to Kent State.

The ceremonies on Dec. 14 for all colleges and degrees on the Kent Campus will be held at the Memorial Athletic and Convocation Center.

To participate in commencement, graduating students had to complete their ceremony RSVP by Oct. 9. Each graduating student registered for commencement has tickets for their commencement ceremony guests to attend.
