Melissa Celko, director of Kent State of Wellness, has introduced a new Meditation Across Campus program, in which members of the university community can participate for free.
“There is a real focus on the humanistic aspect of the quieting of the senses and the mind and allowing the body to find rest,” Ms. Celko told the Record-Courier (www.record-courier.com).
Ms. Celko, who has 25 years experienced with meditation, is teaching students the art of Koru mindfulness. Studies have shown that meditation can help to reduce stress and anxiety, and alleviate depression, which are some of the top mental health issues that college students experience.
