Learn, Celebrate and Engage for I Heart Travel Week

“I Heart Travel Week” at Kent State University is back celebrating education abroad and international education.  

The Office of Global Education is hosting a full slate of programmed events the week of Feb. 12-16 where students can learn more about education abroad, celebrate current and past students who have studied abroad, and engage with international activities on campus.  

Experience the Blank_Lab's Immersive Exhibit

All week long from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. in the DI Hub Blank Lab, experience an immersive exhibit highlighting Kent State education-abroad destinations with the Office of Global Education.

Monday, Feb. 12  

In the University Library, join the Office of Global Education from 9-11 a.m. for an education-abroad meet-and-greet, where students can learn more about the events for this week and enjoy a treat.  

From 12-1:30 p.m. in the Kent Student Center Room 306ABC, stop by and listen to a panel of interracial couples share their experiences dating beyond cultural boundaries with the Office of Global Education International Student and Scholar Services.  

From 9 a.m.-4 p.m. in the DI Hub Blank Lab, experience an immersive exhibit highlighting Kent State education-abroad destinations with the office of Global Education.  

Tuesday, Feb. 13 

The Office of Global Education will be tabling to educate students about education-abroad opportunities in Eastway Dining Hall from 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m.  

In the Kent Student Center Governance Chambers from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. join the Office of Global Education's International Student and Scholar Services and Career Exploration and Development for a workshop about the CPT/OPT application process and best practices for internship and job searching.  

From 2-3 p.m., join Kristina Bullard to learn more about the Kent State Geneva program, and even learn about internship opportunities with non-governmental and international organizations. Refer to the I Heart Travel Week site for an updated location for this discussion.  

Log on to Teams from 3:30-4:15 p.m. with the Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid to learn more about scholarships for education-abroad programs.  

Faculty and staff: Join the Education Policies Council Internationalization Advisory Committee for an international innovation awards ceremony from 5:30-6:30 p.m. in the Schwebel Room in the Kent Student Center  

Register for ACIREMA in room 306ABC in the Kent Student Center from 5:15-6:30 p.m. This event is designed to sensitize participants to difficulties international students encounter in their quest for American education.  

Wednesday, Feb. 14  

Join an alumni panel from 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m. to learn how they use their second language in their professional roles. Register through Handshake for more information.  

Ciao! Learn more about studying abroad in Florence, Italy, in the DI Hub from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. with the Office of Global Education.  

For more information on education-abroad financials, join the Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid from 1-1:45 p.m. in Bowman Hall 203.  

Register in advance for a Chinese New Year dumpling-making celebration and other cultural activities from 2:15-3:15 p.m. in Satterfield Hall 110.  

Thursday, Feb. 15  

Join the Office of Diversity and Outreach Development for a workshop on how to overcome your education-abroad concerns using the "three F’s" – fear, family and funds. This event is in White Hall 200 from 12-1 p.m.  

In the Business Administration Building 206 from 2:30-3:30 p.m., join the Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid for more discussion about financials for education abroad.  

Bonjour! From 3-4:30 p.m. in Bowman Hall 301, learn more about study abroad in Paris, France, for Spring 2025.  

Make your way to the Center for Undergraduate Excellence from 3-5 p.m. for a taste around the world and try a dessert from three different continents while socializing with peers.  

Lights, Camera, Action! Learn photography tips from 4-4:30 p.m. in Bowman Hall 203, so you can properly capture the best moments of your education-abroad experience.

Swifties, join the Office of Global Education for friendship bracelet making in Bowman 124 from 4:30 p.m.-5:30 p.m. while you listen to alumni experiences and embark on your Florence, Italy, era.  

Friday, Feb. 16  

Faculty and staff are invited to learn about the process of developing a faculty-led education-abroad program on Teams from 11 a.m.-12 p.m.  

In Bowman Hall 124 from 1-2:30 p.m. workshop your Gilman Scholarship essay with the Office of Global Education.
