If you’ve been around the Kent State University campus the past few years, you may know the name Michael Weber well.
While he graduated in 2019 with a degree in advertising, Weber has been making a name for himself in the music world the past few years.
In 2018, Weber won first place on MTV’s talent show “Amazingness,” all while managing a 4.0 GPA. He also performs with his band, The Michael Weber Show, which has toured nationally. Based in Silver Lake, Ohio, Weber is now adding another talent to his musical tool belt – film score composer.
As featured in the Akron Beacon Journal, Weber was recently profiled for scoring the horror film “Last Night at Terrace Lanes,” which premiered on Apple TV+ on Jan. 16. Starring Ken Arnold, Francesca Capaldi and Jack Franko, the film is set in a bowling alley on its final night of operation when a bloodthirsty cult invades. According to the Apple TV+ site about the film, “a high schooler on a date from hell must join forces with her survivalist dad to fend off the crazed murderers.”
Weber featured Northeast Ohio bands (including Kent band Thought Mass) from a variety of genres on the soundtrack, even polka.

“It’s a quirky film, and that’s part of its charm,” Weber told the Akron Beacon Journal. “It might have moments of blood and gore, but it’s never to be taken uber seriously.”
