Ten years ago, the New York Times featured Kent City Manager Dave Ruller and Kent State University’s then-President Lester A. Lefton in an article touting their college town-gown success. Businesses open, businesses close, new businesses take their place. In the past three years (and counting) more than 20 new businesses have opened their doors in Kent, Ohio.
Especially notable is that the majority of these businesses opened and remained in business during the COVID-19 pandemic, an event that many businesses didn’t survive.
