Rep. Emilia Sykes Mentions Kent State University Airport in her Support of FAA Reauthorization Act

In a display of strong support for Kent State University Airport, nearby regional airports and aviation in the state of Ohio, Rep. Emilia Sykes (D-OH-13), spoke before the U.S. House of Representatives this week in support of House Bill 3935 or the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Reauthorization Act.

Rep. Emilia Sykes, Democrat, 13th District, speaks of Kent State University Airport in her support for FAA Reauthorization Act.

The bipartisan act extends the FAA’s authority through Fiscal Year 2028 and introduces significant directives aimed at advancing uncrewed and powered lift aircraft operations.

The House approved the bill with bipartisan support on May 15, which follows overwhelming approval by the Senate last week. President Joe Biden signed the bill on May 16.

“The bill affects millions at airports large and small including in my district, the Akron-Canton Regional Airport, the Akron Fulton Airport and the Kent State University Airport,” said Sykes, a Kent State alumna. “These much-needed resources will keep our skies safe and make our aviation infrastructure cleaner and greener.”

Here is Sykes speaking to Congress about the FAA Reauthorization Act.
