Vita thinks her family has gone loco planning a celebration for deceased loved ones. Why throw a party for the dead? But when a spirited candy skeleton suddenly springs to life, Vita finds herself on a magical, musical journey to unravel the true meaning of Día de Muertos. An exciting bilingual/bicultural musical for the entire family, with traditional regional music and dance from Mexico to celebrate Day of the Dead!
Meet Sugar Skull, a charismatic skeleton with a secret or two. With her skeletal new friend, Vita dances with ancient ancestors, sings with a sorrowful sorceress, escapes the trickster Chaneques, and even meets the famous Catrina Calavera. But can this clever youth gather the missing pieces needed for her family ofrenda before it’s too late?

Through the Ohio Arts Council’s Big Yellow School Bus program, applicants may request up to $500. No match is required. Big Yellow School Bus grantees generally receive their full request. Eligible organizations include—but are not limited to—public, private, charter, or parochial schools (pre-kindergarten through secondary) and associations of home-schooled students. Multiple applications from a single school or district are permissible within a single fiscal year. All applicants must possess nonprofit status or nonprofit intent.

Typical Grant Timeline:
- Application Deadline: At least 8 weeks prior to event
- Grant Award Announcement: 4-5 weeks prior to the event
- Grant Agreement Signed in ARTIE: At least 2 weeks prior to event
- Final Report Deadline: 30 days following event
- Payment issued: 3-6 weeks following Final Report Submission
