University Advisor Council Purpose
The purposes of the Kent State University Advisor Council are as follows:
To serve as the advisory group for all advising staff, regardless of identity
To act in an advisory capacity to the Advising Deans of Kent State University on existing and emerging issues, not related to wages, benefits, and/or terms and conditions of employment, that affect advising staff and the broader advising community
To provide a forum for discussion and recommendation of best practices and ideas for policies, practices, and procedures related to academic advising
To promote communication and engagement among academic advising staff, the Advising Deans, and advising offices
To provide a forum for the exchange of information between advising staff and the Advising Deans
To foster a spirit of respect, dignity, unity, and cooperation for staff among the academic advising community
To provide staff with an effective way and safe space to ask questions, express concerns, and provide suggestions to the Advising Deans
To provide referrals for individual concerns and problems to appropriate University resources
To share the responsibility with the administration, students, and the University community in achieving the goals in Kent State Strategic Roadmap
