Research in our lab explores several interrelated questions about human comprehension and memory. What are the cognitive processes involved in reading, understanding, and remembering text material? Why do cognitive processes become faster and better with practice? How can we optimize learning in educationally relevant domains, to improve how much students learn, how fast they learn it, and how long they retain it? And what self-regulatory processes support such learning?

Cardiovascular diseases are the leading cause of death in the industrialized world and in the United States. In addition to causing death and disability, heart disease creates an enormous economic burden for our society. Research in the Cardiovascular Behavioral Medicine Laboratory focuses on the role of psychological factors in the initiation, progression, and endpoints of cardiovascular disease.

College education can start before you arrive. With College Credit Plus (CCP), Kent State University can provide qualified public high school students with college­‐level courses.

The Division of Information Technology (DoIT) is responsible for the strategy, planning, and delivery of information technology across all eight Kent State University campuses and their respective satellite locations. As such, we are instrumental in enabling the day-to-day activities of our university community.

• We design, install, and maintain core computing and communications infrastructure, ensuring secure access to enterprise systems and the university network.

• We design and develop innovative software applications, such as FlashLine and KSUMobile, that connect our students, faculty, and staff to the information they need.

• We manage hardware and software purchasing, installation and configuration to support teaching, learning, and research.

• We provide services and support to individuals and departments across the university to assist with their use of technology.
