The CCI Dean's Scholarship is a need-based scholarship open to admitted Kent State undergraduates in:

• School of Communication Studies
• School of Emerging Media and Technology
• School of Media and Journalism
• School of Visual Communication Design

To be considered for the CCI Dean’s Scholarships, students must apply through ScholarshipUniverse and must have a completed FAFSA on file.

The Kent State University Honors College awards several merit scholarships of varying amounts designated specifically for students in the School of Media and Journalism who apply for and are admitted to the Honors College.

SCHOLARSHIP CRITERIA:

Graduate of a Portage County, Ohio, high school pursuing a BA or BFA in Design or a BFA in photography or fine art, in good academic standing (3.0 GPA or higher), with a portfolio of photography, design or sculpture work.  

Award Amount: $920

*Demonstrate financial need based on FAFSA form in Financial Aid. 

The School of Media and Journalism and the School of Visual Communication Design award up to $200,000 to photography students annually through the Wallace J. Hagedorn Photography Scholarship. In addition to the monies available to offset tuition costs for the most talented visual storytellers, this program-enhancing gift will also provide additional resources to enrich the student experience. The Alan Canfora Activism Scholarship celebrates the life of this noted May 4 activist, his Kent State experience and the importance of social justice and advocacy to society. The scholarship will provide up to two years of renewable  support for an undergraduate, first-year or transfer student of any major on the Kent campus who has demonstrated financial need, as well as an interest in social justice and advocacy and a commitment to care and compassion toward others.

The College of Communication and Information administers this scholarship, but it is open to any college major in the university including exploratory students.

To apply you must:

• Be an entering first-year or transfer student with demonstrated financial need
• Be a full-time student enrolled at the Kent campus beginning in the fall semester
• Accept admission to Kent State by no later than May 1
• Show a demonstrated interest in advocacy and social justice, as well as a demonstrated commitment of care and compassion toward others

Michael John Gallagher II had a passion for global communication — and his love for the discipline was central to who he was. Active within the Kent community, he flourished as a leader, ambassador, mentor and humanitarian. Michael spread kindness wherever he went, with a smile, wave or small talk. He made everyone feel like a friend. Michael graduated, magna cum laude, May 2019.

After graduating, Michael joined the Peace Corps. He dedicated himself to teaching English to the French speaking children at CEG Yebessi in Benin, West Africa.

Just two days after Michael’s 24th birthday, his life tragically came to an end. Michael’s short time on this earth left an indelible impression on so many people. The impact he made was felt around the world — in Chicago, Illinois; Kent, Ohio; Chengdu, China; Florence, Italy; Benin, West Africa; and Paris, France. 

His legacy lives on

The College of Communication and Information is honored to offer this scholarship in memory of Michael.

ABA Foundation Diversity Scholarship
The Diversity Scholarship focuses on broadening the number of traditionally underrepresented groups in the management and operation ranks of the transportation, travel, and tourism industry.

Academic Library Association of Ohio Diversity Scholarship Award
ALAO values diversity in its membership, in the profession, and in future library professionals. For that reason, we offer a $1,500 scholarship to a promising student enrolled in an ALA-accredited MLIS program who exemplifies the qualities needed to ensure a diverse library workforce. A qualified candidate will demonstrate diversity in one or more ways, including, but not limited to: race/ethnicity, sexual orientation, life experience, physical ability. 

AIGA Scholarship
AIGA Worldstudio scholarships benefit students with demonstrated financial need who are studying photography, illustration, and design disciplines in colleges and universities in the United States. Though not a requirement, minority status is a significant factor considered in jury decisions. AIGA considers race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, ability and disability, age, and other factors that shape creative perspective and professional experience when reviewing minority status.

Albert W. Dent Graduate Student Scholarship
Sponsored by the American College of Healthcare Executives, this scholarship is for minority students in the final year of a full-time health care management graduate program.

American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy Express Scripts Scholarship
Scholarships are provided to enrolled dual-degree pharmacy students. Additional consideration is given to students of low socioeconomic status and underrepresented minorities.

American Bus Association Diversity Award
This scholarship is intended to help encourage more minorities to enter the management and operation ranks of the transportation, travel, and tourism industry.

American Chemical Society Scholars Program
Renewable scholarships are available for underrepresented minority students who are majoring in undergraduate chemistry-related disciplines and who intend to pursue careers in chemistry-related fields.

American Institute of CPAs Scholarship for Minority Accounting Students
This award is for outstanding minority students to encourage their selection of accounting as a major and a profession.

American Library Association Spectrum Scholarship
Spectrum specifically addresses the underrepresentation of librarians of color within the current workforce. Applicant must be American Indian/Alaska Native, Asian, Black/African American, Hispanic/Latino, or Native Hawaiian/Other Pacific Islander. The iSchool at Kent State will make an additional financial contribution to the students who are awarded this scholarship.

Black Students at Microsoft Scholarship
This scholarship is for high school seniors who plan to pursue a bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, computer information systems, or select business programs such as finance, business administration, or marketing.

Brown and Caldwell Minority Scholarship
This scholarship is for students majoring in civil, chemical, mechanical, electrical, or environmental engineering, or one of the environmental sciences.

CGS Bernard Harris Scholarship Program
This program from the Council of the Great City Schools was established to encourage minority students to pursue college degrees and careers in science, technology, engineering, and math.

Charlotte Alexander Scholarship
This fund was established by a transfer of the Educational Trust of the Inner City Protestant Parish to the Cleveland Foundation to provide scholarship support to enable deserving individuals who are residents of Cleveland or its inner-ring suburbs to further and/or complete their formal education. Currently, the beneficiary pool is identified as high school seniors and adults to the age of 28, who are pursuing an undergraduate college degree, or vocational/technical training. Applicants with grade-point averages between 2.0 and 3.3 on a 4.0 grade scale are given preference.

Cleveland Foundation Scholarships
Thanks to the vision and generosity of many donors, the Cleveland Foundation offers a variety of scholarships to eligible applicants with varied and diverse criteria.

EPP/MSI Undergraduate Scholarship Program
This scholarship provides funds for two years of undergraduate study to minority students majoring in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics fields that directly support the mission of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.

Herbert Lehman Education Fund Scholarship 
The Herbert Lehman Scholarship is a national, highly competitive scholarship that makes annual awards to qualified, outstanding undergraduate students. The scholarship, established in 1964, is named after the former Governor and United States Senator from New York in recognition of his integrity, courage, and persistence on behalf of numerous civil rights causes.

iSchool Alumni & Friends Council Endowed Minority Scholarship
The Alumni & Friends Council scholarship is based on capacity to achieve academic and professional goals and potential for leadership on campus or in the community. Preference will be given to ethnic minority students (i.e., African American, Hispanic, Native American, and Asian American).

The Jackie Robinson Foundation
This is awarded to a graduating high school senior planning to attend an accredited four-year institution.

Lagrant Foundation Scholarships
Undergraduate and graduate students are eligible if they are a U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or DACA recipient. Students must be African American/Black, Asian American/Pacific Islander, Hispanic/Latino, or Native American/Alaska Native. Students must major in advertising, marketing, or public relations.

Leon Bradley Scholarship
The American Association of School Personnel Administrators sponsors this scholarship to encourage more minorities to enter teaching and school leadership roles. 

NAACP Scholarships
These scholarships from the NAACP’s Legal Defense and Educational Fund are intended to help students with financial need to stay in school and successfully complete their bachelor’s degree.

National Black MBA Association Scholarships
NBMBAA provides scholarships by school, including Kent State, for those in the Ambassador Crawford College of Business and Entrepreneurship.

NACME Engineering Scholarship
These series of scholarships from the National Action Council for Minorities in Engineering offer help for engineering and computer students.

National Association of Black Journalists
To be eligible, you must be a current NABJ member ($40 for membership), have at least one year of school remaining at the time of the application submission, and be majoring in journalism, media, or a communications-related discipline with interest of pursuing a career in journalism or media.

NBNA National Black Nurses Association Scholarship
NBNA is committed to excellence in education and conducts continuing education programs for nurses and allied health professionals throughout the year. The association provides annual scholarships for students. Scholarships provide funding for continuing education. This funding enables nurses to grow and better contribute their talents to the health and healthcare of our communities. The National Press Club Diversity Scholarship
The National Press Club Diversity Scholarship for Studies in Journalism encourages further diversity in journalism and includes a one-time $500 book stipend.

NHBW, inc Scholarships
Recognizing and honoring African-American students who have demonstrated academic excellence, concern for their community and the Black family, and a desire to continue their education.

Ohio Newspaper Association Minority Scholarship
The Ohio Newspapers Foundation will award a scholarship to a minority high school senior in Ohio who plans to major in a field relevant to the newspaper industry, particularly journalism, advertising, marketing, or communications degree program at an Ohio college or university.

Petta and Ron Khouw Scholarship
This scholarship goes to an underrepresented minority MLIS student with focus in Reference Librarians or Academic Librarians-Reference Services.

School of Information iSeed Scholarship
This $1,000 scholarship is available to students who are veterans and/or are from underrepresented groups in their first semester of the MLIS or MS program in the School of Information at Kent State. In order to be eligible for the scholarship, applicants must be admitted to the Kent State University MLIS or MS program. Applications can be made at any time, but will not be reviewed until after admission. 

The Ariana R. Ulloa Scholarship
The Ariana R. Ulloa Scholarship Fund was established to honor the legacy of its namesake, Ariana Ulloa, a native of Mexico. Ariana moved to Athens in 1986 and began working for the Hocking College Department of International Programs in 1990, eventually moving into the position of Director. She had a reputation for her kind and encouraging nature and was known to many students as “Mamá Ariana.” The scholarships are offered to international students pursuing any field of study, as well as students pursuing a degree in international studies or international relations. Students must be residing or studying in the 32 counties of Appalachian Ohio, or in Franklin, Fairfield or Delaware counties.

David V. Stivison Appalachian Community Action Scholarship Fund
Provides financial assistance to students who are residents in the Corporation for Ohio Appalachian Development's service area and want to attend college but lack the required resources. Individual income must not exceed 200 percent of Federal Poverty Level.

FAO Scholarships
FAO provides 16 scholarships in house to students who reside in Appalachian regions in Ohio. The scholarships have different requirements and are posted on their website. They also provide a list of scholarships they provide, the requirements and other external scholarships that are Appalachia specific and otherwise. The link for these is also on their main page.

Robert C. Byrd Memorial Scholarships
In memory of legendary West Virginia Senator Robert C. Byrd, the Turkish Coalition of America is honored to institute the TCAdvance - Robert C. Byrd Memorial Scholarship Program. The TCAdvance - Robert C. Byrd Memorial Scholarship is a subcategory of the TCAdvance Scholarship Program and will award $5,000, annually renewable scholarships to Turkish American students hailing from the 13 states of the Appalachian region.

The Asian Pacific Fund administers 10 scholarship programs to help undergraduate and graduate students achieve their education goals.

Association of Asian Indian Women in Ohio Scholarship
The Association of Asian Indian Women in Ohio (AAIWO) attempts to reach out to primarily Asian Indian women, youth, and children in Ohio to promote education through scholarships and cultural outreach programs. Senior scholarships are made possible through the AAIWO Scholarship Fund, which is managed by the Cleveland Foundation. Scholarships are need-based and limited to women of Asian Indian descent and high school seniors (male and female) of Asian Indian descent.

Gay Asian Pacific Alliance (GAPA) Foundation Scholarship
You must be attending in a post-secondary institution in the United States in the fall of 2019. We invite high school seniors, undergraduate, and graduate students to apply. The application is open to students who attend community college, university, and trade/vocational school. Applicants should have a strong history of activism within the API and/or LGBTQ communities; however, applicants do not need to identify as either to apply.

Groundbreaker Leadership Scholarship
The Against The Grain Groundbreaker Leadership Scholarship provides financial assistance and promotion of Asian American college seniors and graduate students who have exhibited exemplary leadership, vision, and passion that is blazing a trail for others to follow and changing lives in the Asian American community.

IspirASIAN Scholarship
InspirASIAN makes a difference in our community by supporting graduating high school seniors with their college education through our scholarship awards. InspirASIAN awards national scholarships to students residing in any state with a local InspirASIAN chapter. All students who apply will be considered for the national scholarships awards. Students who are not awarded national scholarships will be considered for state scholarships as supported by local InspirASIAN chapters.

Seed Foundation Scholarships
The SEED Foundation's SEED Scholar Program is proud to support Indian youth with scholarships for higher education. The SEED Scholar program has now developed into one of the largest scholarship programs run by Indians for Indian youth. To date, SEED has awarded $363,000 to 53 young men and women.

United States Pan Asian American Chamber of Commerce Scholarships
These scholarships are offered to high school seniors nationwide for their post-secondary education.

American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy Express Scripts Scholarship
Scholarships are provided to enrolled dual-degree pharmacy students. Additional consideration is given to students of low socioeconomic status and underrepresented minorities.

Fontana Transport Inc. Scholars Program
The Fontana Transport Inc. Scholars Program is open to underrepresented, low-income and first-generation college-bound students. Students must be pursuing an undergraduate degree full-time in transportation, math, science, engineering, architecture, environmental design, PreMed, psychology, Spanish language/literature. The applicant does not have to be a U.S. citizen but must have a minimum 3.5 GPA and proof of attending college beginning in the fall semester. Recommendation by a faculty member is optional but highly suggested.

Garmon-Murvay Scholarship
This is a scholarship for School of Communication Studies students with junior standing with 60 hours or higher completed and an overall gap of 3.0. Applicant will submit an essay with their application that responds to the following questions. 1. How being a student at KU has influenced him/her in his/her view of the world beyond Kent, Ohio. 2. The importance of communication studies as a discipline, especially when considering gender communication and cultural communication in a diverse and changing world. 3. Indicate if the student is a first-generation student to attend college.

Layton Family Foundation Scholarship
The Community Foundation of Shelby County, OH has numerous scholarships for both graduating high school seniors and current college students. Specifically, the Layton Family Foundation Scholarship is designed to assist first generation college students who are from Shelby County, Ohio.

The Kim and Harold Louie Family Foundation
This scholarship is for high school seniors and students who will be attending a college or university in the United States as a freshman. Applicants who are currently not seniors in high school (e.g., students who are taking a gap year or adults returning to school), but applicants who will be considered incoming freshmen are eligible to apply. Special consideration will be noted for applicants: who have parents that are United States veterans or are currently in the U.S. military; with a demonstrated financial need; with parents who did not attend college; or, with a documented significant disability.

The Pittsburgh Foundation
The Pittsburgh Foundation offers a variety of scholarships for students from the area. Several of them are specifically available for students who are the first in their family to attend college. Amounts vary and there is more information available on the website.

The Adoption Network Law Center
This scholarship started in an effort to give back to the adoption community and to show support to Birth Parents and Adoptees who are interested in pursuing higher education. You must be a Birth Parent or an Adopted Child and have been accepted to a university, vocational, technical or trade school. This is a video submission with a short application as well.

Adoption Star
Through its academic scholarship program, Adoption STAR recognizes college bound individuals who were adopted by providing academic scholarships. Adoption STAR will award two to six academic scholarships ($500 – $1,500) to college bound individuals.

Foster Care to Success Scholarships
Applicants must have been in public or private foster care for the 12 consecutive months leading up to and including their 18th birthday; OR have been adopted or placed into legal guardianship after their 16th  birthday; OR have been orphaned for at least one year at the time of their 18th birthday and not subsequently adopted, be under the age of 25 on March 31 of the year, have been in foster care or orphaned while living in the United States, an undergraduate, and have been accepted into or expect to be accepted into an accredited, Pell-eligible college or postsecondary school. U.S. citizenship not required.

Holt Adoptee Scholarship
Three adoptees will each win $500, thanks to the generous contributions of donors.This opportunity is open to any adoptee who is a 2019 high school graduate planning to attend higher education, or any adoptee currently enrolled in a university, trade school, technical training program or other eligible educational pursuit.

Junior League of Cleveland Scholarship
Applicants must be non-traditional women students who have overcome obstacles to resume their education. Applicants must be permanent residents of the following Ohio counties: Ashtabula, Cuyahoga, Erie, Geauga, Lake, Lorain, Medina, or Trumbull.

Oregon Chafee Education and Training Grant
The Department of Human Services (DHS) Independent Living Program (ILP) has received Chafee Education and Training Voucher (ETV) funding to help current or former foster care youth with postsecondary education and training. Those who were in foster care in Oregon or another state are eligible.

UMPS CARE Charities All-Star College Scholarship
The All-Star Scholarship is open to children adopted at or after the age of 13 to provide increased opportunities for advanced education. Each year, one student will be selected to receive the scholarship. This student will be eligible to receive up to $10,000 annually to go towards tuition, books, and other college-related expenses.

ELFI Latino or Hispanic Scholarships
The Education Loan Finance has a wide arrange of scholarships available to Latino or Hispanic students. This is a great resource especially if students do not know how to start paying for college or are not aware of the financial aid resources. 

EDUMED Hispanic or Latinx Scholarship Resources
EDUMED has a an overview of scholarship resources available to hispanic or latinx students looking to find ways to make paying for college more affordable. HACER Ronald McDonald House Charities Scholarship
This scholarship is designed to provide financial assistance to eligible Hispanic high school seniors who face financial obstacles as they prepare to attend college. 

HENACC/GMiS Scholarship
The Hispanic Engineer National Achievement Awards Corporation (HENAAC) distributes multiple scholarships each year; some require U.S. citizenship but many do not. Applicants should be entering a STEM field at the undergraduate or graduate level, have a 3.0 GPA, have strong ties to the Hispanic community, and show leadership at the community or campus level. Scholarship winners could receive $500-$10,000.

Hispanic Scholarship Consortium
The Hispanic Scholarship Consortium seeks highly motivated student leaders with a clear vision for their future to apply for the HSC Scholars Program. The program goes beyond traditional services and offers empowerment through scholarship, mentorship, and leadership and is open to graduating high school seniors, undergraduates, and graduate students.

Hispanic Student Scholarship
This contest is for Latino students students in all majors. College students with a passion for community involvement and furthering their education are given priority.

iSchool Alumni & Friends Council Endowed Minority Scholarship
The Alumni & Friends Council scholarship is based on capacity to achieve academic and professional goals and potential for leadership on campus or in the community. Preference will be given to ethnic minority students (i.e., African American, Hispanic, Native American, and Asian American).

The Jackie Robinson Foundation
This is awarded to a graduating high school senior planning to attend an accredited four-year institution.

Lagrant Foundation Scholarships
Undergraduate and graduate students are eligible if they are a U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or DACA recipient. Students must be African American/Black, Asian American/Pacific Islander, Hispanic/Latino, or Native American/Alaska Native. Students must major in advertising, marketing, or public relations.

Leon Bradley Scholarship
The American Association of School Personnel Administrators sponsors this scholarship to encourage more minorities to enter teaching and school leadership roles. 

NACME Engineering Scholarship
These series of scholarships from the National Action Council for Minorities in Engineering offer help for engineering and computer students.

Ohio Newspaper Association Minority Scholarship
The Ohio Newspapers Foundation will award a scholarship to a minority high school senior in Ohio who plans to major in a field relevant to the newspaper industry, particularly journalism, advertising, marketing, or communications degree program at an Ohio college or university.

Petta and Ron Khouw Scholarship
This scholarship goes to an underrepresented minority MLIS student with focus in Reference Librarians or Academic Librarians-Reference Services.

School of Information iSeed Scholarship
This $1,000 scholarship is available to students who are veterans and/or are from underrepresented groups in their first semester of the MLIS or MS program in the School of Information at Kent State. In order to be eligible for the scholarship, applicants must be admitted to the Kent State University MLIS or MS program. American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy Express Scripts Scholarship
Scholarships are provided to enrolled dual-degree pharmacy students. Additional consideration is given to students of low socioeconomic status and underrepresented minorities.

The Association of LGBTQ Journalists (NLGJA) Scholarship
Applicants must be an LGBTQ individual of color planning to pursue a career in journalism and be able to demonstrate their passion and commitment to the profession. Applicants must be NLGJA members in good standing.

EPP/MSI Undergraduate Scholarship Program
This scholarship provides funds for two years of undergraduate study to minority students majoring in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics fields that directly support the mission of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.

Gay Asian Pacific Alliance (GAPA) Foundation Scholarship
You must be attending in a post-secondary institution in the United States in the fall of 2019. We invite high school seniors, undergraduate, and graduate students to apply. The application is open to students who attend community college, university, and trade/vocational school. Applicants should have a strong history of activism within the API and/or LGBTQ communities; however, applicants do not need to identify as either to apply.

GCEF Scholarship Fund
The Gay Community Endowment Fund established the GCEF Scholarship Fund to provide scholarships to LGBTQ+ and Ally students who live or attend school in the geographic area served by the fund (Summit, Medina, Portage, Stark, and Wayne counties).

NGPA Aviation Scholarships
The cost of education and training is one of the most challenging barriers to entry for those interested in a career in aviation. Whether it's getting a private pilot's license, an advanced certificate or rating, or even an A&P license or float plane endorsement, NGPA scholarships provide a steppingstone for aspiring individuals at a crucial point in their education.

PFLAG Dayton Scholarship
The PFLAG scholarship program, including the Greater Dayton LGBT scholarship, is designed to recognize outstanding students and to contribute toward their continuing education. All applicants must be a resident of or attending school in the Miami Valley area at the time of application.

Point Foundation National LGBTQ Scholarship Fund
Point Scholars agree to maintain a high level of academic performance and give back to the LGBTQ community through the completion of an individual community service project each year. After graduating, Point Scholars become part of the organization’s alumni network, connecting them with caring individuals and professional contacts throughout the nation.

Traub-Dicker Rainbow Scholarship
The Traub-Dicker Rainbow Scholarship was established by Peggy Traub and Phyllis Dicker to encourage and support lesbian women in their pursuit of higher education. This program provides one-year scholarships of $1,500 or $3,000 to those graduating high school or already enrolled in college in any year of study, including graduate school. Scholarships are paid directly to the recipient’s school and are applied toward tuition. 

AFCEA War Veterans Scholarships
Merit-based scholarships of $2,500 will be awarded to: Persons on active duty in the uniformed military services. Honorably discharged U.S. military veterans (including Reservists and National Guard personnel) who deployed abroad in support of one of the Overseas Contingency Operations (Operation Enduring Freedom; Operation Iraqi Freedom; Operation New Dawn; Operation Inherent Resolve; Operation Freedom's Sentinel). Recipients must be currently enrolled and attending classes in an undergraduate program part time or full time in an eligible STEM major degree program at an accredited four-year college or university in the U.S.

American Legion Legacy Scholarship
The American Legion’s Legacy Scholarship provides college scholarship money to biological or legally adopted children of post-9/11 veterans who died on active duty, or have a combined VA disability rating of 50 percent or greater.

AMVETS’ Scholarships
AMVETS’ offers scholarships through our National Service Foundation (NSF) and donations. They are for Veteran (other than dishonorable), Active Duty, Guard, and Reserves; Spouses; and Children/Grandchildren of Veterans, Active Duty, Guard, and Reserves who are currently in high school. The scholarships, up to $12,000 are only for part-time or full-time study at a four (4) year accredited undergraduate college, university, technical, or trade school leading to a non-specific degree.

Army Nurse Corps Association (ANCA) Education Fund
One of the Army Nurse Corps Association’s major initiatives is the Scholarship Program. Its purpose is to support nursing education through scholarship funding to worthy students who are US citizens in an accredited baccalaureate or graduate nursing or anesthesia program.

Army Woman’s Legacy Scholarship Program
The Legacy Scholarship Program offers financial support in four areas: Certificate programs, Community College coursework, Undergraduate Degrees, and Graduate Degrees. Applicant must be a woman who has served or is serving honorably in the U.S. Army, U.S. Army Reserve, Army National Guard or the child of a woman who served honorably in the U.S. Army, U.S. Army Reserve or Army National Guard.

Daughters of Cincinnati Scholarship
Awarded to daughters of career commissioned officers in the United States armed services. Applications are due by March 15 of the student’s senior year in high school the application process includes: an essay, a secondary school report, a letter of recommendation from a member of the applicant’s community, and a Student Aid Report (SAR).

Fisher House Scholarships for Service
Scholarships for Service is a free public resource for students of families with a military service background to search and access thousands of scholarship options. Every scholarship listed here is specifically tailored for active, guard and reserve military, Veterans, retired personnel or their families.

The Folded Flag Foundation Educational Scholarships
The Folded Flag Foundation mission is to provide educational scholarships and support grants to the spouses and children of the United States military and government personnel who died as a result of hostile action or in an accident related to U.S. combat operations. Scholarships and grants are available to qualifying spouses of fallen heroes and their children under the age of 26 to help provide a pathway to success by covering a wide range of living expense and educational needs, from kindergarten to college/trade school.

Folds of Honor Scholarship 
Applicants must be spouses or children of U.S. service members who were killed in action, lost a limb, died while on active duty, or who have at least a 10% combined service-connected evaluation. Students must be currently attending or recently accepted into an accredited degree program or vocation program. 

FRA's Education Foundation Scholarships
This site lists 12+ scholarships for both undergraduate and graduate students. You may apply for FRA Education Foundation Scholarships if you are affiliated with the USN, USMC or USCG through your own service or that of your spouse, parent, grandparent, or great-grandparent. 

Pat Tillman Foundation Scholarship 
The Pat Tillman Foundation offers the Leadership Through Action – Tilman Military Scholars program which provides financial assistance to veterans and active-duty military who wish to start, continue, or finish their college education. Award amounts vary, and eligibility is determined by merit as well as financial need. Applicants are required to maintain a 3.0 GPA and must submit two essays for consideration.

American Institute of CPAs Scholarship for Minority Accounting Students
This award is for outstanding minority students to encourage their selection of accounting as a major and a profession.

American Library Association Spectrum Scholarship
Spectrum specifically addresses the underrepresentation of librarians of color within the current workforce. Applicant must be American Indian/Alaska Native, Asian, Black/African American, Hispanic/Latino, or Native Hawaiian/Other Pacific Islander. The iSchool at Kent State will make an additional financial contribution to the students who are awarded this scholarship.

Association on American Indian Affairs Scholarships
These scholarships from the Association on American Indian Affairs are available to students enrolled with their respective tribe, whether federally recognized or non-federally recognized.

Brown and Caldwell Navajo Nation Scholarship
This scholarship is for students who are an enrolled member of the Navajo Nation and have or intend to declare a major in civil, chemical, mechanical, electrical or environmental engineering, or one of the environmental sciences.

Catching the Dream Scholarship
This group offers scholarships to Native American students, especially those who intend to return to their communities to help others.

CGS Bernard Harris Scholarship Program
This program from the Council of the Great City Schools was established to encourage minority students to pursue college degrees and careers in science, technology, engineering, and math.

Cherokee Nation Education Services
The Cherokee Nation College Resource Center offers several scholarships to tribal citizens who have permanent residence within the Cherokee Nation or contiguous areas.

Chickasaw Nation Scholarship and Grants
The Chickasaw Nation provides grants and scholarships to Chickasaw citizens and full-time employees.

Cobell Scholarship
Both Merit-based and Need-based, the competitive Cobell Scholarship is annual, non-renewable, and available to any post-secondary (after high school) student who is; an enrolled member of a US Federally Recognized Tribe, enrolled in full-time study and is degree-seeking. Applicants must plan to attend or be attending any nationally, regionally and industry accredited non-profit, public and private, institution. Applicants must be pursuing a vocational certificate or diploma, associate’s, bachelor’s, master’s, doctoral or professional degree, or certificate. All Finalists must demonstrate an unmet need through a process that will be coordinated with the IEI staff. And, all Finalists will demonstrate tribal enrollment through a verification process that will be coordinated with the IEI staff.

The Society for American Archaeology scholarships are open to all Native peoples from anywhere in the Americas, Alaska Natives, Indigenous Pacific Islanders, and Native Hawaiians.

Wah-Tiah-Kah Scholarship
This scholarship, administered by the Osage Minerals Council, is intended to provide assistance to eligible Osage applicants in the petroleum-related field of study.

The ASIST scholarship is available to adults facing economic, social, or physical challenges, who are looking to improve their situation through educational opportunities. 

Association for Nontraditional Students in Higher Education
The purpose of ANTSHE Scholarships is to assist nontraditional students in their college education. ANTSHE awards scholarships in varying amounts each academic year. Applicants are required to be enrolled or plan to enroll for the academic year at an accredited college or university in a degree program of study.

College JumpStart Scholarship
This is a scholarship awarded to a high school 10th-12th grader, college student, or non-traditional student U.S. citizen planning to attend 2-year, 4-year, or vocational/trade school in the U.S. Student must be committed to using education to better your life and that of your family and/or community.

College Now Greater Cleveland Adult Learners Scholarship
College Now provides scholarship opportunities to adult students age 19 and above who have taken off one year or more after high school. Eligible adult learners are Pell-eligible and must be pursuing a first bachelor’s degree, an associate degree or a non-degree certificate or license in a vocational or technical program. Applicants must complete the application and meet the scholarship criteria for academic performance and financial need. Scholarships are renewable. Adults from Ashtabula, Cuyahoga, Geauga, Lake, Lorain, Mahoning, Medina, Portage, Stark, Summit, Trumbull or Wayne County may apply for the College Now Adult Learner Scholarship.

Jeannette Rankin Women’s Scholarship Fund
This is awarded to low-income women, ages 35 and older, who are U.S. citizens or permanent residents pursuing an undergraduate education at an accredited college or university in the United States.

Junior League of Cleveland Scholarship
Applicants must be non-traditional women students who have overcome obstacles to resume their education. Applicants must be permanent residents of the following Ohio counties: Ashtabula, Cuyahoga, Erie, Geauga, Lake, Lorain, Medina or Trumbull.

LouEllen Dabbs Scholarship
The LouEllen Dabbs Scholarship is for a student who is a single parent and interested in pursuing a career in business, banking, or finance. To qualify, students must be enrolled in business administration or banking, be a single parent, be registered for a minimum of nine credits, and have at least a 2.35 GPA.

The Patsy Takemoto Mink Education Foundation Support Awards
Established in 2003, the Patsy Takemoto Mink Education Foundation aims to carry on some of Mink's most ardent commitments: educational access, opportunity, and equity for low-income women, especially mothers; and educational enrichment for children. In 2020, the Foundation plans to award five (5) Education Support Awards of up to $5000 each to assist low-income women with children who are pursuing post-secondary education.

Paula Slimak Scholarship
This is available to any JMC major and is awarded in honor of those killed or wounded on May 4, 1970. Students must be a non-traditional student who knows the importance of juggling work and studies and who increasingly will understand the value of free speech. 

Quell Foundation Scholarships
The Quell Foundation Fighter Scholarship is awarded to a select high school senior or a current undergraduate/graduate student that is being treated for a diagnosed mental health condition. The Quell Foundation Awareness Fund established the award as a means to improve the care and treatment of people with mental health illness.

Rosenfeld Injury Lawyers LLC’ Annual Single Mother Scholarship
Rosenfeld Injury Lawyers LLC believes in the empowerment of single mothers through education. Education has the power to open doors for single mothers and even their children. Having a degree or certification can enable a woman to expand her lifetime earning potential, increase her gross income, and provide her with better job opportunities. We want to expand opportunities for single mothers who are going back to school by offering two $1,000 scholarships (one awarded to a single mother in an undergraduate program or community college and one to a single mother enrolled in an accredited law school).

Study.com Adult Learner Scholarship
Study.com is awarding a $1,000 academic scholarship to an adult learner who is a current or prospective student. Study.com mission is to make education accessible to all and in providing this scholarship we hope to reduce barriers to adult learners completing their degree.

Study.com Non-Traditional Student Scholarship
The goal for Study.com is to increase access to education for those who lack access to resources. They have a $1,000 scholarship open for non-traditional students that could assist with paying for college. 

ABC Law Centers Disability Scholarship
ABC Law Center is proud to offer our Disability Advocacy Scholarship! Our firm will award one annual scholarship in the amount of $1,000 to an undergraduate or graduate student planning to pursue a law or public policy career focused on disability advocacy.

AAHD Frederick J. Krause Scholarship on Health and Disability
The AAHD Frederick J. Krause Scholarship on Health and Disability is awarded annually to a deserving student with a disability who is pursuing undergraduate/graduate studies (must be at least enrolled as a Junior in college) in an accredited university who is pursuing studies related to the health and disability, to include, but not limited to public health, health promotion, disability studies, disability research, rehabilitation engineering, audiology, disability policy, special education and majors that will impact quality of life of persons with disabilities.

Academic Library Association of Ohio Diversity Scholarship Award
ALAO values diversity in its membership, in the profession, and in future library professionals. For that reason, we offer a $1,500 scholarship to a promising student enrolled in an ALA-accredited MLIS program who exemplifies the qualities needed to ensure a diverse library workforce. AG Bell College Scholarship

AIGA Scholarship

American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy Express Scripts Scholarship
Scholarships are provided to enrolled dual-degree pharmacy students. Additional consideration is given to students of low socioeconomic status and underrepresented minorities.

American Council of the Blind Scholarship
The American Council of the Blind has a great opportunity for students who are legally blind to earn a scholarship, whether you are going to a technical college, an entering freshman, undergraduate or a graduate student. Over $55,000 in scholarships are awarded to students each year. To be eligible, you need to be legally blind, maintain a 3.0 GPA, and be involved in your school/local community.

American Foundation for the Blind
The students who are legally blind may apply for $500 to $2,500 financial aid. You must provide medical proof and two letters where your situation is described. 

National Center for Learning Disabilities Scholarships
The center is committed to assisting those with learning and attention issues. NCLD offers several scholarship options including the Everyday Champion Award, COVID-19 Impact Scholarship, Allegra Ford Thomas Scholarship, and the Anne Ford Scholarship.

Buckley Moss Foundation
This $1,000 financial assistance is given to high-school seniors or first-year students with an ADHD. If you also have dyslexia and dysgraphia, or any other learning disability, your application chances are greater. You must write a short essay. The deadline is March 31, 2021.

Lighthouse Guild Scholarship

The Rev. Chuck and Nancy Thomas Scholarship
This scholarship serves Unitarian Universalism, and individual Unitarian Universalists like Chuck and Nancy Thomas, by valuing a history of service and leadership as critical elements of a call toward professional theological training. Each year it supports a student in the first year of seminary or in preparatory academic work. LIFE Lessons Scholarship Program
Qualified entrants who submit essays or videos about how the death of a parent impacted their lives are eligible for scholarship money. The Life Lessons Scholarship Program is open only to legal residents of 50 United States, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico, who are between 17 and 24 years of age, have experienced the death of a parent or legal guardian, and are currently enrolled in, or have been accepted to, a college, university or trade school within the 50 United States, the District of Columbia or Puerto Rico.

Roadway Worker Memorial Scholarship Program
The Foundation provides scholarships for loved ones of fallen or permanently disabled roadway workers until we can reduce the number of work zone deaths. It is our hope to eventually give out zero scholarships as a result of zero fatalities. The Roadway Worker Memorial Scholarship Program provides financial assistance for post-high school education to dependents (children and spouses) of roadway workers killed or permanently disabled in roadway work zones. The Foundation will help ensure that their dependents academic dreams will continue.

The Silver Shield Foundation Grant
The Silver Shield Foundation has been helping children of police officers and firefighters killed in the line of duty with the cost of their education. We set aside an education fund for each surviving child to assist with tuition payments for prep school, college and university undergraduate and graduate school, vocational and technical school, and tutoring services. The tuition assistance program is flexible, aiming to meet each family's specific needs. We send payments directly to the schools and tutors, and we maintain contact with the families to follow the children's education

Vincent Bennett, Jr. Memorial Scholarship
The Vincent Bennett, Jr. Memorial scholarship is awarded annually to an incoming freshman who is the child of a law enforcement officer or firefighter who was killed or permanently disabled in the line of duty. This award recognizes financial need, academic achievement, and the candidate must show a strong commitment to service in the community. A declared major is not required, but preference will be given to eligible candidates who are majoring in engineering.

Minority Scholarship in Classics and Classical Archaeology
The Committee on Diversity in the Profession of the Society for Classical Studies (SCS) invites applications from minority undergraduate students from across North America for a scholarship to be awarded for Summer 2020. The purpose of the scholarship is to further students’ study of classics or classical archaeology with opportunities not available during the school year. Eligible proposals might include (but are not limited to) participation in classical summer programs or field schools in the Mediterranean or language training at institutions in the U.S., Canada, or Europe. The maximum amount of the award will be $4,500.

Study Abroad for Minority Students Scholarship
These scholarships are awarded to full-time undergraduate and graduate students in good standing who have been accepted to a language program or university study abroad program in Turkey, the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), or Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH). Applicants should also be U.S. Citizens or permanent residents. Eligible students will receive between $500 and $2,000 to use toward the cost of studying abroad. Scholarships will be awarded for programs lasting for the summer, one semester, or an academic year, as well as for university/college sponsored study tours and programs spent studying the country's language. As American minority students are largely underrepresented in study abroad programs, these scholarships are designed to expand study abroad opportunities for such students and foster a greater understanding about diversity in America as well as the perspectives, challenges, and opportunities of different American minorities.

Davis-Putter Scholarship Fund
Although not specifically for undocumented students, this award does not discriminate on the basis of national identity—quite the opposite. The Davis-Putter Scholarship goes to undergraduate and graduate students working for social or economic justice in their communities. In addition to transcripts, applicants submit a personal statement, letters of recommendation that attest to their progressivism, and financial information. Activism is the key criteria. Scholarship winner receives $10,000.

TheDream.US scholarships are for highly motivated DREAMers who want nothing more than to get a college education but are unable to afford the cost.

Golden Door Scholarship
Any aspiring undergrad with DACA or TPS status can apply for this award, but the scholarship committee prioritizes students in states that bar DACA students from receiving in-state tuition benefits.
