Cathy Zingrone
Biography
Cathy Zingrone is a proud Kent State University graduate (December Class of 1985) and is thrilled to work at her alma mater. Cathy was employed in the social service field for six years before going back to school to complete her Master of Science degree in Higher Education Administration. She has also worked as a career advisor for the Cuyahoga Valley Career Center and Garfield Heights High School and as an educational specialist for the Educational Talent Search Program (TRIO Grant Program) at the University of Akron. She returned to Kent State University in 1995 and was a full-time adjunct instructor for two years in the School of Exercise, Leisure & Sport. Then, in 1998, Cathy began advising undergraduate students and has advised exploratory majors as well as majors in the College of Fine & Professional Arts, College of Architecture & Environmental Design and the College of Communication and Information (CCI) before joining CCI full-time in October of 2008 to launch their independent, decentralized undergraduate advising model.
Cathy has worked at the university for over 20 years and has been responsible for multiple areas, including advising, supervision of advisors, recruitment and enrollment management, and the coordination of the Destination Kent State Program for CCI (and the previous PASS – Placement, Advising and Scheduling System - Program). Currently, Cathy serves as the Curriculum Services Director for the College of Communication and Information and coordinator of the curriculum for CCI’s First Year Experience (FYE) course.
