Student Journalists Report on COVID-19's Impact on Kent and the World

In this time of nationwide uncertainty, Kent State Student Media continues to provide top-notch reporting on COVID-19 and its impact on Kent and around the world.

KentWired.com has a tab dedicated to Coronavirus updates that houses articles dating back to March 14, 2020. Since that day, our student reporters have posted over 50 articles detailing the pandemic on a local, state, national and worldwide level.

Eager to get back on-air, our TV2 team went live beginning Monday, April 6, from students’ at-home studios for the first time after being out of the studio for almost three weeks. They will continue to broadcast via KentWired weekday nights at 6 p.m.

Both @KentWired and @TV2KSU have stayed extremely active on social media, updating followers each day with news and informative content. @KentWired alone has received over 1.1 million organic impressions since March 14. They earned kudos from Kent State President Todd Diacon for their commitment to keeping the community informed while practicing the CDC's guidelines for health and safety to mitigate the virus's spread.

“Our wonderful student journalists continue to report remotely via www.kentwired.com. These students are providing a valuable service, as measured by the doubling of interactions with the KentWired website in March compared to February,” President Diacon wrote in an email to students, faculty and staff.

Kent State Student Media is proud to continue serving the university, city and nation as a light in uncertain and dark times. As always, Flashes take care of Flashes.
