On Dec. 29, the Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine announced an award of more than $1.2 million in grants to support and assist those impacted by sexual violence on college campuses in Ohio. Kent State University’s Office of Sexual and Relationship Violence Support Services received more than $90,000 to employ a university advocate to assist people impacted by sexual violence.

Kent State University adheres to and complies with the Drug-Free Schools and Communities Act Amendments of 1989 (Public Law 101-226), which requires an institution of higher education to implement programs to prevent the use of illicit drugs and the abuse of alcohol by students and its employees. Under the Drug-Free Schools and Communities Act, the university also is required to publish and disseminate to students and employees an annual notice regarding drug and alcohol policies and related information.
At a recent meeting, members of the Campus Ministers Organization serving Kent State University voted to change the name of the organization to the Campus Religious Life Association to better reflect the diversity of its membership. This change is effective immediately.
“Changing the name from Campus Ministers Organization to Campus Religious Life Association reflects more of who we are today in relation to the whole university community,” says the Rev. Douglas Fidler, CRLA treasurer and pastor of Trinity Lutheran Church.

At Kent State, we want to honor the celebration of our Native American and Indigenous culture by developing a calendar encompassing all the university events that are relevant to Native American Heritage Month. The Native American Heritage Month Planning Committee is welcoming university divisions, departments and student organizations to begin submitting their programming, activities and events to the University Events Calendar to be featured on the Native American Heritage Month Website.
Open Enrollment is from Oct. 16, through Nov. 3. Each year in the fall, benefits-eligible employees may select and make changes to their health coverage plans based on their needs and the needs of their family.
