    Biography

Sunidhi Mehta, Ph.D., joins Kent State University’s School of Fashion as an assistant professor with eight years of teaching experience in fashion and textile education. Her teaching and research emphasize interdisciplinary learning, systems thinking and the application of science and technology to fashion.

Dr. Mehta’s interdisciplinary research program focuses on developing data- and technology-enabled transformative solutions for a sustainable and circular fashion industry. Her research, supported by competitive federal and industry funding, integrates textile science, circular systems thinking and emerging technologies to address environmental challenges across the fashion product life cycle, including textile recycling, waste valorization, circular and biodegradable materials, life-cycle assessment and technology-enabled sustainable consumption. She employs artificial intelligence, machine learning and predictive analytics to understand consumer responses and support more sustainable product and retail decisions. Her work has been published in high-impact Q1 journals and presented at leading professional venues, including the International Textile and Apparel Association and the American Association of Textile Chemists and Colorists.

Dr. Mehta regularly serves as an invited grant review panelist for the National Science Foundation, U.S. Department of Agriculture and Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada. As an educator, Mehta fosters an engaging classroom that emphasizes critical thinking, collaboration and evidence-based problem-solving. She is passionate about mentoring students and preparing them to become thoughtful professionals and leaders in creating a more sustainable fashion industry.
