Become a docent!
Share your love of fashion and art by becoming a docent at the Kent State University Museum.
What is a docent?
A volunteer tour guide who interprets museum exhibitions for visitors.
What do the tours entail?
The KSU Museum welcomes groups of visitors from schools and other organizations ranging from sewing guilds to senior centers. Our docents explain our exhibitions including the Fashion Timeline which showcases the history of fashion from the 18th century to the present day.
How do I become a docent?
We are offering training sessions every month to introduce new docents to our exhibitions. We will provide you with the basic information to be able to guide others through the galleries. Whenever there is a new exhibition, the curator will provide an orientation session for all of the docents.
We are offering our first training sessions October 4 at 10 am or October 5 at 3 pm. We have added an additional session on October 20, at 3 pm. You only need to attend one to join our team! We will continue to offer training sessions throughout the year.
