The Kent State University Museum received its first congressional proclamation from the office of U.S. Rep. David P. Joyce in recognition of the museum’s recent reaccreditation by the American Alliance of Museums, the highest national standard for museums.
The Certificate of Congressional Recognition and Achievement was presented by River Kale (KSU ’21), district outreach representative, to Sarah Spinner, Ph.D., museum director, during the museum’s first concert held in the galleries. The event was presented in partnership with Tuesday Musical Association, OPUS 216, the Kent State Center for Student Involvement, and Kent State Counseling and Psychological Services.
Spinner said the recognition affirms the museum’s ongoing commitment to its educational mission. “We are deeply grateful for this recognition and will continue working hard every day to serve our students, our university, and our communities with excellence,” she said.
The museum’s reaccreditation reflects its sustained impact in collections stewardship, public engagement, and experiential learning for Kent State students and the broader region.
