Sandra Ross
Biography
Sandra Ross, mezzo-soprano, has been praised as having a “supple, warm and grandiose” voice. Equally at home on both operatic and musical theater stages, Ms. Ross has performed with such companies as the Cincinnati Opera, Cleveland Opera, Central City Opera, Lyric Opera Cleveland, and ten seasons with the Ohio Light Opera. In Hamburg, Germany, Ms. Ross appeared as Madame Giry in Andrew Lloyd Weber’s “The Phantom of the Opera.” A frequent concert soloist, Ms. Ross has performed works including Howard Shore’s “Lord of the Rings Symphony,” Beethoven’s “Symphony No. 9,” and Prokofiev’s “Alexander Nevsky,” to name a few, with organizations including the orchestras of Cleveland, Akron, Canton, Ashland, Toledo, and Youngstown. Recent engagements include “Madame Butterfly” with Cleveland Opera Theater and the European tour of “Cunning Little Vixen” with Cleveland Orchestra.
Ms. Ross received her education from Heidelberg College and New England Conservatory. She holds a Bachelor of Music and Master of Music with studies in vocal performance and pedagogy. She has served in higher education for over 15 years on the faculties of Baldwin Wallace Conservatory, Ashland University, and Kent State.
Ms. Ross teaches applied lessons to music and theater majors. She is versatile in her pedagogical approach with bel canto, classical, belt and contemporary theater styles.
