Greetings, Digital Sciences and Emerging Media and Technology alumni! I am excited to launch this newsletter and share some great stories from Kent State with you. Distinguished Honors Alumni 2023 Award

The 37th Annual Senior Honors Luncheon was held on Saturday, April 22, 2023 in the Kent State University Ballroom to recognize seniors graduating in the spring, summer and fall of 2023. This ceremony also provides an opportunity for the Honors College to recognize alumni who have served the college with their time and efforts to allow for increased opportunities for Honors students.   This year, the Honors College announced Gary Bengier, class of 1977, as the 2023 Distinguished Honors Alumni award recipient. Jenna Gilbreath, ’23, had a chance encounter with Michael John Gallagher II, '19, during one of her student visit days. He gave her some great advice about her future as a Kent State student. “Michael put my mind to rest when I found out he was a global communication studies student — exactly what I planned on doing,” Jenna said. “It was his senior year, and he planned on going into the Peace Corps after he graduated.” Joining the Peace Corps was also one of Jenna’s ambitions and that conversation with Michael reassured her that she was on the right path. EHHS students Megan Burnett and Ronshai Jones won leadership awards at the Center for Student Involvement's annual Student Leadership Awards program. Megan Burnett, a graduating senior in the Human and Development and Family Sciences program, received the Peer Mentorship Award, presented to students who has served as a mentor or peer educator to their fellow students, team members, or classmates.
