From the classroom to the art studio, Clare Murray Adams, B.S., '72; M.A., '76; and BFA, '93, has been exploring herself and her surroundings since 1977 when she made the switch from education to creation. As an artist, Murray Adams primarily works with materials such as paper, fabric, paint and wax. She selects each material intentionally to feature in her pieces for their ability to communicate her ideas or to create a narrative. She uses these secondhand materials to ensure minimal waste. Michael Daniels, Ph.D., '22, director of Kent State's E. Timothy Moore Student Multicultural Center, recently received a national dissertation of the year award from the Student Affairs Administrators in Higher Education (NASPA) Foundation. Daniels’ dissertation is a constructivist grounded theory study on undergraduate Black men and how they develop their leader identity.
