Saxophonist Perry Roth has joined Kent State University’s Glauser School of Music faculty as an instructor of music. He begins in the upcoming fall 2020 semester, having previously served on the faculties of The Hartt School at the University of Hartford and the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. Formerly known as the Ohio College of Podiatric Medicine, it was acquired by Kent State University in 2012, which has afforded students and employees an array of new opportunities and resources. A Kent State University student is gaining recognition for a photo she took that captures an African American Cleveland police officer shedding a tear as he came face to face with demonstrators protesting the death of George Floyd, who died in Minneapolis Police custody. Kent State’s School of Journalism and Mass Communication will be known as the School of Media and Journalism, effective July 1, 2020. The university’s Board of Trustees approved the name change at its meeting June 3, 2020. The School’s four undergraduate majors — advertising, digital media production, journalism and public relations — will remain the same. Though the KSUCPM Class of 2020 may not be able to walk across a stage at graduation, or stand close to their classmates as they recite the Podiatric Physician's Oath due to the outbreak of COVID-19, they certainly have a lot to celebrate.
