Homecoming Weekend: a showcase of Kent Stater pride throughout the campus in hues of navy blue and gold. The commemoration was a wonderful, fun-filled weekend kicked off by our very own President Todd Diacon as the 2019 Grand Marshall. Behind the scenes, Systems Development and Innovation (SDI) developed the highly anticipated the KentHC App, that displayed homecoming activities and resources.   Students, faculty and staff joined forces on each Columbiana County campus to make a showing at the Salem and East Liverpool parades. Fortunately, the weather was perfect for each event and thousands of area residents turned out to watch. During the fast-paced Salem parade, Flash and campus representatives greeted parade-goers while handing out candy and Kent State pencils. Flash is always a fan favorite! The Kent State University alumni family grew by nearly 3,000 new graduates as the university held its Fall Commencement ceremonies. For the Kent Campus, Commencement ceremonies took place Friday, Dec. 13, and Saturday, Dec. 14, at the Memorial Athletic and Convocation (MAC) Center. The Kent State Golden Flashes football team (6-6) is bowling for the fourth time in school history, having accepted a bid to the Tropical Smoothie Cafe Frisco Bowl against Utah State (7-5, Mountain West). The game will take place on Friday, Dec. 20, at 7:30 p.m. at Toyota Stadium in Frisco, Texas, with coverage on ESPN2. It will be the first bowl game for Kent State since the 2013 GoDaddy.com Bowl (2012 season). Kent State University at Salem held its fall Undergraduate Research Conference, an event that recognizes students for their research and allows them to share what they learned through discussions with the academic staff.  The conference is open to all undergraduates in any discipline and in any for-credit course on any Kent State campus. Nearly 150 area high school students with an insatiable hunger for science, technology, engineering, and mathematics enjoyed a banquet of ‘small bites’ during two Women in STEM Day events hosted by the Kent State University Geauga and the Twinsburg Academic Center this fall.
