Jerry and Marilynn The Thunderbolt Our Story We met in the autumn of 1965 at a FIJI gathering. It was love at first sight, or "the thunderbolt" as it’s known. Although, I am still amazed I fell for a young man from a very small town. The Proposal and Marriage Jerry and I drove to Erie to get my father's "permission" to marry. Of course, my father informed Jerry how lucky he was to be the chosen one. Jerry proposed at the Reservoir near Kent. We were married in Erie, PA, on March 23, 1968, during a severe winter blizzard. We are celebrating our 45th wedding anniversary this year.  ...

Gary and Kris Laying a Foundation for Love at Taylor Hall Our Story We met in architecture school, in the studio of Taylor Hall in 1983. An architecture student from Gary's class, who was an RA from my residence hall, introduced us. We only dated a few times and that summer I got an internship. I told my roommate how I felt that I had missed a great chance at a wonderful connection, since I knew Gary graduated but didn't know where he was working. Turns out, my first summer job was at the architecture firm where Gary started his job after graduation! We started dating; we’d take our lunch to...

Harry and Liz The Letter and a Greek Tragedy Our Story One night in early November, 1965, I decided to join my Clark Hall roommates in the student activities area of Eastway. There they were talking to three girls, one of whom impressed me. Fortune had it that a couple of days later one of my roommates and I encountered her and another girl outside Olson Hall. I casually mentioned that I never received any mail. Within a day or two, I received a letter from her in my mailbox. I thought that she was either nuts or wanted to be friends. So I went down to Allen Hall and asked her out and she ac...

Dave and Courtney  A Fated Homecoming Celebration Our Story Although we both lived in Tri-Towers at the same time (1999-2000) and shared the same group of friends during college, we didn't meet until KSU's Homecoming in 2004. I was in town visiting my family in Cleveland and decided to stop in Kent to have dinner with my brother on my way back to Columbus, where I lived at the time. After realizing it was Homecoming weekend, I decided to hang out in Kent with my college friends for the night. Similarly, Courtney's college friends convinced her to hang out for Homecoming weekend. When ou...

Christina and Jeffrey Extra, Extra! Newsroom Courtship, Read All About It! Our Story We were both journalism majors and met while working at the Daily Kent Stater during the fall 2007 semester. We saw a lot of each other around the newsroom, but got to know each other better during the next semester (spring 2008), when Jeff was sports editor, and I was a principal reporter. We quickly realized how much we had in common and started dating that March. We fondly remember the walks around campus and our "dates" that included eating off my meal plan. We really value all that we share because of K...

Bob and Janet A Long and Winding Path of Love Leads Back to Kent Our Story Jan Hadley and I met in a KSU physics class on Hill Top Drive in 1963. Jan sat right behind me in the class. After class Jan would walk home to her sorority house, Gamma Phi Beta, which was right across from the class on Lincoln Street. My house was on Willow Street right behind the Jan's sorority house. I would wait for Jan to come out of her sorority house and cut through the back yard to meet her on the way to our Physics class. That is how we met, got to known each other and began dating. The rest is history!&nbsp...

David and Amanda Many Memories of a Kent State Courtship Our Story David and I went to high school together in Lorain, Ohio. We had decided to go to Kent State University after visiting a friend of ours there. David had attended the local Lorain County Community College, and I was still in high school. We couldn't wait to go to school together. I went to Kent first as David needed extra time at LCCC to finish up there. I started my freshman year fall of 1994, and David arrived fall of 1995. I worked as an RA in Wright Hall of Tri-Towers that year. Dave moved into McDowell. We were so excited...
