Doug and Nancy Small Group and Golf: An Equation for Love Our Story We both lived in the Small Group dorms. Doug’s roommate, Ned Weaver, introduced us. They were both on the Golf Team. Doug was pre-med, and I was in nursing so we studied together in the library. I graduated a year before he did and that year apart showed us we wanted to be back together! The Proposal and Marriage Doug proposed to me while he was in medical school, and I was in graduate school. Neither of us had a full time job, but our KSU preparation was soon to kick in; we both had good jobs! Also, best friend Ned Weaver ...

Alan and Kay One Rainy Day in Kent Our Story I was a physics major at KSU and a member of the TKE fraternity. Kay was an education major and a member of AXO sorority. My fraternity brothers had volunteered to chair a "Road Rally" and couldn't attend the organizing meeting. Kay was the chair of Special Activities of the Student Activities Board, so it was her meeting that I was to attend. As it turned out, it was pouring rain and while I only had a short walk, Kay had to walk from her house on the other side of town to campus. No one else showed up to the meeting, so here I was with this comp...

Lindsey and Adam A Fantasy Football Romance Bridges the Border Our Story Adam played football, and I worked in the football office with my friend Erin. We originally met in Psychology class junior year when he asked Erin whose jacket she was wearing. We started talking and began hanging out. Erin and I watched his dog for him that following month. We didn't even know him well! We continued to talk and hang out. Eventually it turned into us dating! He is from Kentucky, and I'm from Ohio. Once we both graduated, I followed him back home to Lexington, KY, and we have been here ever since! Thank...

Chad and Conni Smith An Ironic Meeting Our Story Conni and I met at KSU, ironically enough, in a class called Marriage, Family, and Other Intimate Lifestyles (or something close to that). We were introduced by a mutual friend in the class. The introduction was followed by many long, slow walks back to Glen Morris apartments, where we both lived at the time. Our first date was approximately a week later, as we went to the theater to see the brand new box office release of "Aladdin." (It was her choice—I really wanted to see Malcolm X!) The Proposal and Marriage We were married in June o...

Katie and Brice A Night to Remember Our Story Brice and I were both RA's on campus. We knew each other from training sessions and different campus events. We had a lot of mutual friends as well. The summer before my senior year I found out through another KSU alumni that Brice had moved to my hometown for a job at Pitt. I contacted him about getting together. Brice had me over and cooked dinner for me, and we talked for HOURS about Kent, music, education, etc. I was done! We soon started dating, and I found it so hard to head back to school that fall. However, Brice made it a habit to come o...

One of which happens to be a Kent graduate! Staying Connected to Kent State Today We are both members of the alumni association and often attend sporting events, especially basketball. Alyssa and Andrew McQuillen College Street and Pandora's Box: Breaking Precedent Our Story It was inevitable that Drew and I would eventually run into each other. We both lived on College Street. He lived in the Rugby House with nine other guys, and I lived across the street with five other girls. Even the smelly, typical college house of rugby players couldn't keep me away. We started dating March 2009 and got engaged July 2011. The Proposal and Marriage Drew proposed in our apartment (Holly Park) in July 2011. There was no significance to the day he proposed, which made it even more surpr...

Bob and Linda Yanega Paradise Found over Pizza Our Story We met in an honors colloquium our sophomore year. Linda had taken fencing the semester before, and I was registered to take it the following semester. I offered to buy her book, and we agreed to meet at the Student Center for some pizza and to make the transaction. I think we both secretly had more in mind, because it led to a several hour conversation and our first kiss right there in the snack bar. Twenty-eight years of marriage and two grown kids later, we are still madly in love. In fact, more in love than ever! The Proposal and ...

Brian and Jacquie Crescenzo Crossing Paths to Class Our Story We met our freshman year living in the Small Group halls. We were both taking bowling, but her class was right before mine. When we crossed paths in between classes, she always told me what to expect. We then became the best of friends throughout our undergrad. It wasn’t until her first year of grad school, and my last year here as a student, we started to date.  The Proposal  Jacquie and I drove to Small Group surveying the remains of our beloved freshmen dorms. Being the determined guy I am, I found my way into the sm...
