Kent State University fashion design and merchandising students are taking their floral-inspired fabrics to the Cleveland Botanical Garden during this year’s Orchid Mania exhibition that is open now through March 11. The display is part of an annual school-sponsored competition, which is directed toward junior-level design students. WKSU is delving into a yearlong examination of entrepreneurship in Northeast Ohio that will profile local entrepreneurs as they navigate the challenges of starting a new business and promote an innovative idea or product, thus humanizing business creation statistics.   A grant from the Burton D. High school students participate in a healthcare simulation event at Kent State University at Ashtabula.

What does a day in the life of a healthcare professional look like? High school students interested in a healthcare career got to find out recently when Kent State University at Ashtabula hosted a hands-on simulation experience for them. The experience also gave the students a chance to learn about the allied health programs offered at the campus. Students came from high schools and vocational schools in Ashtabula and Lake counties. Kent State University advertising student Michael Weber balances a 4.0 GPA with a thriving passion for music – a passion that recently propelled him to win first place on MTV’s talent show Amazingness. The episode featuring Mr. Weber, ’19, aired nationally on Jan. 5. It featured six acts competing for a $10,000 prize, which Weber ultimately won for his talent of playing guitar. Music has been Mr. Weber’s passion since childhood.
