Kent State University will hold its Summer 2017 Commencement ceremonies for the Kent Campus on Saturday, Aug. 19, at the Memorial Athletic and Convocation Center (MAC Center). Kent State will confer 1,422 degrees, including 908 bachelor’s degrees, 427 master’s degrees, 67 doctoral degrees and 20 educational specialist degrees. Across the university’s eight-campus system, 1,765 students will graduate from Kent State this summer, including those receiving associate degrees. Kent State University at Tuscarawas is now offering the Bachelor of Science in Agribusiness. The degree was added to meet the need for professionals and entrepreneurs who have the educational background to become successful decision makers in the high-demand and rapidly changing agricultural industry. While hundreds of applicants hoped to be selected to participate in the Sirenland Writers Conference, only a handful of them were chosen to attend the weeklong event in Positano, Italy. James Winter, an English lecturer at Kent State University at Salem, was one of 10 applicants selected for the fiction writing workshop this past spring. To apply for the conference, Winter had to submit qualifying fiction writing. The Ohio Water Development Authority has selected for funding a collaborative grant between Lauren Kinsman-Costello (KSU), Gil Bohrer (OSU) and Kelly Wrighton (OSU) titled “Predictive modeling of nutrient and carbon processing in wetlands-linking hydrology, water quality and microbial processes.” This research will combine a suite of powerful techniques, including empirical measures of nutrient processing rates and microbial communities as well as modeling, to provide a more comprehensive understanding of wetland nutrient cycling in the face of rapid changes in precipitation patterns and ...
It’s called the Acting White Accusation (AWA). Researchers say it arises when a Black adolescent's racial identity is perceived by other Black adolescents as being not Black enough. Researchers also say the accusation of Acting White can cause anxiety and isolation.
