Lisa Ferrell, Kent State University’s housekeeping manager, has been selected as a 2016 Manager of Distinction by Facility Cleaning Decisions magazine. This award is presented based on nominations from co-workers and managers for employees who go above and beyond their traditional job duties. According to the magazine, nominees showcased exceptional management style or organizational achievements above and beyond job performance and contributed value to their facility and the profession as a whole. Mietek Jaroniec, Ph.D., a professor in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry in the College of Arts and Sciences at Kent State University, was recently awarded the Medal of Marie Sklodowska-Curie by the Polish Chemical Society for his scientific achievements.  The prestigious medal is awarded to outstanding chemists working permanently abroad for exceptional scientific achievements of international significance and for contributions to the community of Polish chemists. Harriett Bynum, program director for the Occupational Therapy Assistant program at Kent State East Liverpool, received the Award of Merit from the Ohio Occupational Therapy Association at its annual conference in October.
