The twentieth International Conference on Dublin Core and Metadata Applications (DCMI 2022) took place on October 3-7. Come help Flashes Fighting Hunger, Kent State’s student-powered response to food insecurity, and observe Hunger & Homelessness Awareness Week (Nov. 14-19) by filling the truck with unperishable food and toiletry items! The mobile unit will be parked in the Division of Philanthropy and Alumni Engagement building parking lot from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 16. EARTHWORMS ARE THE STARS OF THE SHOW IN GRADUATE STUDENT’S RESEARCH ON COMPOSTING

Scenic design and earthworms don’t normally have a connection, but Kathalina Thorpe, Kent State scenic design graduate student, has connected the two to improve the environment.   At Kent State, Thorpe has been conducting research on using earthworms to compost fabric waste from scenic design shops and in the fashion industry, research she started three years ago as an undergraduate at Valdosta State University in Georgia funded as a project for the Blazer Summer Research Institute.  The research recently won Thorpe the fall 2022 Three Minute Thesis (3MT) competition...

Kent State faculty and staff members can purchase discounted season tickets for the upcoming 2022-23 men's and women's basketball seasons. Discounted prices are $70 per season ticket for men's basketball ($85 regular price) and $45 per season ticket ($55 regular price) for women's basketball. Kent State University at Stark is the new home to the Players Guild Theatre, now the resident theater company on campus. In October, the Players Guild held its inaugural production, “Million Dollar Quartet”, at The Mary J. Timken Theatre in the Fine Arts Building.
