The Stress-Free Zone returns to the Kent State University Library on Monday, May 9, and Tuesday, May 10, from 3 - 5 p.m. to give students a break from studying for finals. The much-loved Dogs on Campus Pet Therapy Program® will be back once again, and snacks and beverages will be provided. Six first-year honors students on the Kent State Salem Campus took the initiative to organize a research project that enhanced their learning experiences, despite not earning grades or class credit for their work. “We chose to do this and organized it all ourselves. Kent State University at Salem recently recognized three employees with Campus Excellence Awards, recognizing exemplary teaching and service to the campus. Dr. Louise Steele was recognized as the outstanding fulltime faculty member. She is an assistant professor of biology and has taught on the Salem Campus for four years. A native of Brockway, Pa., Steele received her bachelor of science in biology from Penn State-Erie. She earned her Ph.D. in molecular biology and microbiology from Case Western Reserve University. Kent State University will hold its Spring 2016 Commencement ceremonies for the Kent Campus on Friday, May 13, and Saturday, May 14, at the Memorial Athletic and Convocation (MAC) Center, and on Friday, May 20, at Cartwright Hall.
