The inaugural Kent State County Classic basketball game took place Dec. 6, 2016 when the East Liverpool Potters hosted the Salem Quakers for the opening game of the boys’ 2016-17 basketball season.  Kent State’s Columbiana County campuses welcomed fans from both ends of the county for an exciting match-up, with activities throughout the game. Rural Scholars - "Be Entrepreneurial"

The Rural Scholars program works to connect middle schoolers and high schoolers living in Columbiana County to their local surroundings and beyond. This has never been more apparent than from a summer full of four separate week-long workshops, and an autumn full of different career exploration workshops. Students and staff from the nursing program at Kent State Salem hosted International Day featuring food, music and displays of several cultures that represent the locations nursing students visited in recent years as part of their study abroad courses.
