On Thursday, May 28, Kent State Stark Dean Denise Seachrist and Fairless Local Schools Superintendent Broc Bidlack signed a College Credit Plus agreement.

In fall 2015, Fairless High School students will be within walking distance to Kent State University at Stark, shortening the span to their college degrees.   Kent State University nursing and public health students are learning about how faith based organizations play a key role in providing health care around the world. As part of their degree program, 20 students, along with Ken Slenkovich, assistant dean of Kent State’s College of Public Health, attended the World Health Assembly in Geneva, Switzerland.  This is the 5th year that Kent State students have attended the meeting. Anshul Sharma, a graduate student in Kent State University’s Chemical Physics Interdisciplinary Program in the College of Arts and Sciences, was awarded the Silver Graduate Student Award at the Materials Research Society’s 2015 Spring Meeting in San Francisco, California. The city of Kent is among the top ten best cities for millenials looking for work, according to www.nerdwallet.com, an online financial and industry resource. Kent ranks in 9th place. NerdWallet highlights the location of Kent State University, as well as attractive employment options for young residents, as some contributing factors to the ranking. Commencement ceremonies were held May 8 for the Kent State Salem Campus. Dr. Steve Nameth, dean of the Kent State Columbiana County Campuses, presided over the event, along with Dr. Celeste Oprean, assistant dean for the Salem Campus.   The keynote speaker was Dr. Stephane Boothe, former assistant dean at the Salem Campus and the current special assistant in the Office of Academic Affairs at the University of Akron. Commencement ceremonies were held May 8 for the Kent State East Liverpool Campus, during which Dr. Steve Nameth, dean of the Kent State Columbiana County Campuses, presided over the event, along with Dr. Susan Rossi, assistant dean for the East Liverpool Campus. The vertical wind turbine is installed on the southeast side of the Science & Nursing Building.

Through a grant facilitated by Dr. Christopher Post, associate professor of geography, the Dominion Foundation awarded Kent State Stark $28,000 for a vertical wind turbine. Wind Turbines of Ohio, located in Alliance, installed the turbine on the southeast side of the campus’s new Science & Nursing Building.
