In fall 2015, Fairless High School students will be within walking distance to Kent State University at Stark, shortening the span to their college degrees. On Thursday, May 28, Kent State Stark Dean Denise Seachrist and Fairless Local Schools Superintendent Broc Bidlack signed a College Credit Plus agreement. The partnership will allow the high school students from the district, located in Navarre, Ohio, to earn university credits toward their college degrees. Kent State University nursing and public health students are learning about how faith based organizations play a key role in providing health care around the world. As part of their degree program, 20 students, along with Ken Slenkovich, assistant dean of Kent State’s College of Public Health, attended the World Health Assembly in Geneva, Switzerland. Dr. Steve Nameth, dean of the Kent State Columbiana County Campuses, presided over the event, along with Dr. Celeste Oprean, assistant dean for the Salem Campus. Through a grant facilitated by Dr. Christopher Post, associate professor of geography, the Dominion Foundation awarded Kent State Stark $28,000 for a vertical wind turbine. Wind Turbines of Ohio, located in Alliance, installed the turbine on the southeast side of the campus’s new Science & Nursing Building.
