Leadership - Minor

The Leadership minor provides students skills in understanding the business environment as a system of interrelated and interdependent parts. Students learn how to analyze the system to identify opportunities and challenges for addressing stakeholder concerns, in addition to gaining skills for influencing others to work toward sustainable practices. Responsible leadership involves making sustainable business decisions that consider the interests of all stakeholders including employees, clients, suppliers, customers, society, the environment and future generations. Addressing these varied and often conflicting concerns requires skill.

International Business for Non-Business Majors - Minor

The International Business minor introduces students to cultural issues of a broad, global nature. Students are encouraged to participate in study-abroad programs to complement their studies. Global business is fast becoming an important part of the U.S. economy. The world that college graduates are facing will essentially be a borderless world. This suggests a need to be trained for employment that will have international implications. Whether students take a major in business, fashion design and merchandising, the hard sciences, English or education, some training in global outreach, cultural diversity and “business cultures” will be necessary.

The Human Resource Management minor covers a range of topic areas taught from both theoretical and applied perspectives. Program Information

Program Description

Full Description

The Finance minor allows students to gain some familiarity with financial management, as well as with the financial system of institutions and markets in which firms must operate. Some knowledge of finance is necessary to understand and work in most businesses and organizations. Profits and value creation are the “bottom lines” to which companies direct their efforts. Some acquaintance with investment techniques may help students in managing their personal finances.

The Finance minor is particularly useful for business students in other majors who take the requisite courses, and for other students who desire to acquire some understanding of finance without having to take all the core business school requisites. Both groups are exposed to important fundamentals, yet they also will have the flexibility to consider several areas of finance.
