Stockroom employees perform the methane bubbles demonstration.

On January 8, the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry welcomed 80 chemistry students from Kent Roosevelt High School for a morning of hands-on science and exploration. During the visit, students were introduced to the department and learned about career pathways in chemistry, as well as opportunities for undergraduate research at Kent State.The program included live chemistry demonstrations led by the chemistry stockroom, featuring crowd-pleasing reactions such as lighting methane bubbles and freezing fruit with liquid nitrogen.
