Campus preparations are underway for Fall 2026 Move-In as thousands of new and returning students arrive on campus soon. Official move-in days will take place from Wednesday, Aug. 19, through Sunday, Aug. 23. Faculty and staff should anticipate increased traffic along main campus thoroughfares, particularly surrounding residence halls. Several parking lots will be reserved exclusively for move-in unloading during peak hours. To support the incoming class, the university is recruiting volunteers for Movers and Groovers and Golf Cart Shuttle drivers. 

Join us Thursday, Sept. 17 at 5:30 p.m. in The Kiva for The Dolly Effect: A Legacy of Love, Culture, Education & Community. This interdisciplinary open forum explores Dolly Parton’s influence beyond music. Kent State faculty and staff will consider her legacy through the lenses of Appalachia, literature and storytelling, peacebuilding and LGBTQ+ communities, children and literacy, communication, and resilience. Light refreshments will be provided!

University Advising is pleased to announce the second quarter 2026 winner of Kent State University’s Advisor Impact Award – Michelle Peacock! Michelle joined the advising team at Kent State as a Graduate Assistant in 2020 and transitioned to a full-time advisor in 2021. She currently advises for the Traditional, Accelerated, LPN & Allied Health, and RN-to-BSN Nursing programs. She serves students at the Kent, Salem, and Trumbull campuses.

Kent State’s annual Constitution Day Celebration, hosted by University Libraries, will feature disability rights attorney Katie Hunt Thomas of the Ability Center of Greater Toledo, presenting "The Limits of Disability Rights and the U.S. Constitution: Why the Americans with Disabilities Act was necessary and what's next?” The event will be held on Thursday, Sept. 17 from 1-2:30 p.m. in University Library’s Harrick Garden Room. Following the address, the speaker and a panel of students will respond to topic-related questions. This free event will be held in-person and virtually. 

Join us Sunday, Sept. 27 at 4 p.m. in the Hometown Bank Plaza for a Kent State University Orchestra Outdoor Concert: Fascinatin' Rhythm. This is a wonderful example of collaboration across the university and our community. Continuing to build on this tradition, the concert celebrates the 250th anniversary of the United States with music by American composers. The repertoire includes:"Fascinatin' Rhythm" by George Gershwin, "Dances in the Canebrakes" by Florence Price, and more! This concert is free and open to the public.
