Maggie Stedman-Smith, PhD, MPH, MS, RN
Biography
Dr. Stedman-Smith joined the faculty of Kent State University as part of the new College of Public Health in August 2009. She has over 10 years of clinical experience as a perinatal nurse, and a clinical subspecialty in occupational health and safety. Dr. Stedman-Smith’s dissertation focused on mothers’ perceptions of children’s exposures to pesticides and other environmental health agents using a community-based participatory research methodology called, Photovoice. Since joining the College of Public Health faculty she has established a research trajectory in occupational health promotion for reducing communicable infectious disease among employees in the work environment. Dr. Stedman-Smith has been the recipient of funding from the Kent-Summa Initiative for Clinical and Translational Research / GoJo Industries, Akron, Ohio, and funding from the Kent State University College of Public Health Dean’s Office with material support from GoJo Industries.
