Ivanka Sabolich
Biography
Dr. Sabolich served the Department and discipline of Sociology and Kent State University for 22 years. Dr. Sabolich taught sociology courses in the areas of social problems, families, inequalities, and poverty and power. Her class sizes ranged from 50 to 400 students. Dr. Sabolich is known as a caring and responsible teacher, who worked to empower students both inside and outside of the classroom. In 2005, 2011, and 2012 Dr. Sabolich was an advisor to students in the Honors College. Dr. Sabolich was respected by students and colleagues and often sough after for advice and guidance. Dr. Sabolich was nominated and a finalist for teacher of the year (2010). Dr. Sabolich served on the Department’s Curriculum and Undergraduate Studies Committee (CUSC). Given her dedication to teaching and her devotion to serving the department, students, and Kent State University, she was awarded the title and position of Professor Emeritus with all the accompanying responsibilities, rights, and privileges in 2020.
