 To assure compliance with all Federal, state or local laws related to the performance of research involving human subjects, the Kent State University (KSU) Division of Research and Sponsored Programs, through the Institutional Review Board (IRB) and Research Subjects Administrator, reviews and approves all research protocols that involve human subjects prior to start of fieldwork.  Additionally, SRL works with the University’s Sponsored Programs Office in the administration of all contracts. Currently, Dr. Gibson is a member of KSU’s IRB, a position he has enjoyed since early 2018.

The SRL currently enjoys conducting a number of Pregnancy Risk Assessment Monitoring Services (PRAMS) CDC projects. These projects are currently being conducted for the states of Maryland (since 2018) and Maine (since 2022). The SRL provides a valuable service for KSU in the form of college dean review surveys (one in the field as this is written), and department Chair reviews (one is in the field as this is written). Currently in the field is a survey for Dr. Sean Broghammer, Vice President of KSU’s Office of Enrollment Management seeking to learn why students leave KSU.
