recent PROJECTS of note

  • Ohio Medicaid Centralized Credentialing and Fiscal Intermediary:  This mixed methods survey, conducted in partnership with the Ohio State University Government Resource Center and the Ohio Department of Medicaid, gathered data from doctors and nurse practitioners statewide regarding their experiences with the various credentialing processes and submitting and processing claims related to Medicaid beneficiaries. The results of this survey are being used as a baseline prior to the introduction of the Centralized Credentialing and Fiscal Intermediary programs in late 2022/early 2023.
  • Health Assessment and Research for Communities (HARC) 2019:  This repeat customer and BRFSS-like project seeks to learn the health-related behaviors, attitudes, and needs (present and future) of 2,500 randomly selected, landline and cellular respondents (English and Spanish).  For this community, sharply divided between “haves” and “have nots,” this survey seeks to provide important information in predicting the Coachella Valley’s present and future healthcare needs.  Of the 2,500 completed interviews, 500 were “child by proxy” interviews in which the most knowledgeable adult was asked questions about the child selected for interview. 
  • Pregnancy Risk Assessment Monitoring System (PRAMS) for the State of Indiana: This multi-year study, funded by the US Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), is being conducted on behalf of the Indiana State Department of Health (ISDH). PRAMS was originally developed by the CDC in 1987 as a strategy of informing measures to reduce infant mortality rates. Drawing from the extensive work of Don Dillman on mail survey methodology for primary data collection as well as our phone survey expertise for follow-up interviews, the SRL is gathering vital health and wellness information about recent mothers and their infants.

PRAMS was originally developed by the CDC in 1987 as a strategy of informing measures to reduce infant mortality rates. The SRL is gathering vital health and wellness information about recent mothers and their infants via follow up phone interviews.
  • Ravenna Parks and Recreation Department Survey: The SRL is conducting a telephone-based public opinion survey for the neighboring municipality of Ravenna, with the goal of improving their local parks and other public recreational facilities. Hundreds of residents are being interviewed in order to uncover how these facilities can best continue to serve the citizenry.
  • Paths to Quality Study: Paths to Quality is the Quality Rating and Improvement System (QRIS) for child care providers Indiana. The SRL is surveying households with young children who use child care services in order to gather data about the needs and experiences of these households.
  • Early Learning Indiana (ELI) Services Assessment: This ongoing project relies on the SRL to contact new clients of the State of Indiana's many Child Care Resource and Referral (CCR&R) agencies and solicit feedback regarding their services. Through providing a steady stream of information to be used in quality improvement measures, the SRL assists ELI in fulfilling their mission of providing "leadership, advocacy, and early childhood education services to continually improve the early learning landscape in Indiana".
  • National Child Care Provider Study: The SRL is currently working with academic researchers to conduct an in-depth online study of child care providers, primarily dealing with hiring practices and related organizational topics.

 

RECENT UNIQUE ONLINE PANEL SURVEYS

  • Vegan Identity: This study expands upon traditional Structural Identity Theory by investigating a counter-normative identity, the vegan identity. Respondents were asked to report how strongly they held and how frequently they activated their vegan identity, as well as how they believed others view vegans. In addition to a panel sample, a second version of this study was conducted using vegans who were part of a vegan social media group in order to investigate the impact of an online presence on the vegan identity.
  • Multiple Identities: This survey examines the intersection of three normative and three counter-normative identities within the theoretical framework of structural identity theory.
  • Collective Memories: This survey examines White American collective memories regarding depictions of Black slavery in U.S. history.  Implications for modern race relations are also examined.
  • Environmental Justice Issues: This survey explores environmental justice perceptions among Black U.S. residents and how these perceptions and environmental justice behaviors affect respondents’ immediate social environment.
  • Attitudes toward Law Enforcement: This survey examines White, Black, and Hispanic American adult attitudes and perceptions of the U.S. legal system and law enforcement.  Additionally, modern media portrayals of law enforcement as well as respondent news outlet preferences are explored.
  • Public’s views of Physical and Mental Illness: This survey explores social constructions, perceptions, and stigmas of chronic concealable illnesses among U.S. residents. Importantly, the survey examines perceptions of both physical and mental illnesses separately.
