Division Of Student Affairs Hosts a Community Space

The Division of Student Affairs will host a space to process the results of the Derek Chauvin trial. With a verdict being announced on Tuesday afternoon, several of the centers within the division created Community Space: A Place to Just Be to provide support our students might need.

"The goal of the community space is to provide a space for students to decompress, express themselves, and/or just be in community with one another," said Assistant Vice President, Equity, Identity, and Success for the Division of Student Affairs, Yvonna Washington-Greer. "There will be no set agenda, just an open dialogue. The televising of the trial was exhausting for many as has been the past year since the video release of George Floyd's death [and] we wanted to offer time and space for students to be with each other and process the verdict."

The event is a collaboration with the Student Multicultural Center, the Women's Center, the LGBTQ+ Center, the Office of International Student Affairs, Student Accessibility Services, and the Center for Adult and Veteran Services.

The sessions are being held on Zoom Wednesday and Friday. Registration is required.
